im gonna go with when Gomi lost to BJ. After that loss he went on a tear beating Kawajiri, Mach, Jens Pulver, and a unpredictable Krazy horse Bennett. I guess you could throw in that Gracie aswell.

Honarable mentions-

Fitch losing to GSP, this just might be my personal one, I gained a lot of respect for the guy for standing in for all five. Mir to Lesnar is another one that comes to mind, Mir looks like he pulled a BJ Penn and started taking his cardio seriously and isn't just leaning on talent anymore.
