How Good is Keith Jardine?

I noticed a little bit of talk that 110 is a must win for Jardine or the UFC might cut him. I personally don't think it is, I think the guy will be around a while, he's a great gate keeper.

But it got me thinking, just how good is the guy really? If you look at some of his wins there are some impressive ones, Liddell, Griffin even Vera and he was pretty competitive with Rampage. Than you look at his bad losses, I noticed that most of them have come inside a couple minutes, two inside a minute and a loss to Thiago Silva in 1:35.

Jardine is known for being a difficult guy to time and for heavy leg kicks that put guys off balance. In the bad losses in his career, the other guy never tried to time him, they just came forward and threw, both Silvas and Houston Alexander. Where the fights he's won or were competitive his opponent relied on timing, Liddell, Griffin and Jackson.

So I pose this question, does Keith Jardine actually have any talent? Or is it just his awkward movements and strikes that throw some guys off.

I would be surprised to see him get cut. The UFC have given him a murders row of good to great opponents to fight and I think Dana and Co. respect that and wont cut him anytime soon.

Jardine is a solid gatekeeper for the LHW division. He is a really good fighter who just happens to make mistakes very early on in fights and tends to lose by KO or TKO. If he makes a few adjustments to his striking defense and comes in with a better gameplan he would be a solid top 10 fighter for the UFC.

Congratulations you won!

I think hes a above average fighter, due to his inconsistency, like you said... he beats top fighters but loses against fighters that leaves you scratching your head.

He wont get cut if he loses this fight though, hes got another 1-2 fights after this one at 110.

Keith Jardine is a quality fighter but he can't hang with guys like Rampage and Thiago Silva. He beat Griffin fair and square as he did Liddell but I think Chuck highly underestimated him and could have won had he trained harder.

For his last fight he thought that his style was to unpredictable to set a patern and counter but Thiago proved that you can to anyones style. He waited for Keith to throw that upercut.

So in conclusion I would say that Keith Jardine is a A- fighter who has had some good luck and got some top wins and he has had some bad luck and lost a few.

They will not cut Jardine. He is a good gatekeeper and his fights are typically exciting(Him getting KTFO).

Well to me this sounds like it's very similar to the case of the 'lucky punch'. Of course, Keith Jardine does have tremendous talent, work ethic and his own style. He trains with one of the best camps in the world, and is very well-rounded - so his wins against Liddell, Griffin, Vera are justified.

On the other hand however, yes he's had some bad losses to Thiago, Rampage, Wanderlei which are again justified by his opponents coming in well prepared and imposing their will/game on him.

Unfortunately for him however, fighters are being cut extremely easily now - so if he loses to Bader, I do see him getting cut =(

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig

Agree with coldcall, as per usual. Don't think he will get cut though unless he gets demolished in the first round though, but any loss and its to undercards.

...Where to place Jardine is really a tough question because of his inconsistency. I mean you beat Liddell, Griffin & give Rampage a good run for his money, that demands some respect. Then on the other hand- his KO losses to Alexander, Wanderlei and Thiago had to be embarrassing. Then you count him out. I think Keith is a fight or 2 away from getting the boot. Bader has big power and he certainly can place Keith on another installment of Ultimate Knockouts. I think Jardine would be a MEANER bounty hunter now than before he was a UFC!

Oh the guy has talent.

He's just as inconstant as the bible. But he's topple so many top guys and almost beat rampage when they fought. I think he's a great gatekeeper, he's had a tough road of fights and he is always entertaining to watch. I wouldn't want to see him cut even if he loses.
