Rampges signs fight with Rashad for UFC 114!

Quote:
Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has signed a bout agreement to meet Rashad Evans at UFC 114, it was reported Friday night Australian time. The fight will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 29th and will be Jackson’s first appearance in the UFC cage since beating Keith Jardine at UFC 96 nearly a year ago.

Jackson had been in dispute with the UFC regarding his decision to pull out of UFC 107 to take a part in The A-Team movie. A blog post he made in September apparently announcing his retirement also caused concern on the UFC’s part, with the company’s legal team filing a motion for declaratory relief (asking a court to determine the legal rights of each party under the contract between the UFC and Ramapge).

That lawsuit is now likely to be scrapped after Jackson signed the bout agreement for a fight with Evans. Shortly before Jackson left for Australia to corner his team mate Michael Bisping, he told Fighters Only that he would be returning to the Octagon. He said retirement had crossed his mind but that he had instead decided to honour his obligations under the contract he has with the UFC.

Contract disputes are not uncommon between the UFC and its fighters, but the UFC generally wins. Randy Couture famously attempted to resign from his contract but was unsuccessful, while the UFC this week won a court battle with its former champion Ken Shamrock and will now be pursuing him for legal fees.

Great news to have it finally confirmed!. I would usually say Rampage to win but a year out with not alot of training could be the deciding factor!

Rashad via decision. Rampage is technically the better striker, but Rashad has superior movement, speed and mixes it up better. Anyways, i've exhausted what I have to say on this fight but just to reinforce...RAMPAGE WILL LOSE.

I think Rampage takes this unless he has to much ring rust, then rashad could pull off a UD.

I think a Rampage in shape, with no ring rust, will beat Rashad on most days.

A few months ago, like before the Thiago Silva fight, I was picking Rashad via decision; not sure now, though.

I know that Rashad can likely dance around 'Page all night, picking his shots and scoring points, but I'm not sure how successful Rashad will be at taking Rampage down. If he's unable to, I don't know if he can survive 15 minutes without being KO'd. I mean, Machida KO'd him. Silva damn near KO'd him; those were Rashad's last two fights. If those two can do what they did, 'Page sure as hell can knock him out.

Rampage's problem will be that he's not very fast, so I don't know if he can catch Rashad. However, if Rashad is unsuccessful in taking Rampage down, he'll be open for a big shot. We've seen Rashad gas a bit when he's going for a lot of takedowns, especially if he's not successful, so he's likely to slow down a lot in the later rounds.

On the flip side, though Rashad can hit hard, I don't think he can hit hard enough to put 'Page out. Rampage has only really be susceptible to knees in the clinch, something I don't think Rashad is good enough at to use against him, so a KO of Rampage is highly, highly unlikely.

A lot of variables is what makes this fight interesting to me. I'm not too big a fan of either guy, so I really don't care who wins, but I am interested in seeing how it all plays out.

Syko has a little shameless behaviour in the past
If Rampage works on his TDD a bit more then I think he can take this.

Other fights rumoured for the card include:

Forrest vs Little Nog
Sanchez vs Hathaway
Sadollah vs Dong Hyun Kim
Simpson vs Leben
Guillard vs Tavares
Duffee vs Russow
Diabate vs Cane
Escudero vs Dan Lauzon

Good Main and Co-Main Event and some exciting mid-card fights, not the most promising card we've seen, but should be decent.
