Then Joe should be cut.... I like Joe...He seems like a nice guy...But...hes not a top contender..and theyre booking him like one......

p.s ... But he did win fight of the night on 3 of the 4 loses....

what do you guys think ?
I think you're nuts.

Stevenson's gone 3-4 in his last seven fights. So what?

He's 2-1 in his last three, and of those four losses, one of them is to the current title holder and two are to top contenders who were/are in the top five in the weightclass.

Stevenson is a stellar gatekeeper, and you don't cut a guy when he's 2-1 in his last three. He had a tough loss to Sotiropoulos, who's a potential title contender in the next couple of years.

Stevenson is also a phenomenally exciting fighter. Three Fight of the Nights in a row is a huge deal.

Chris Lytle is (deservedly) a legend in the UFC. It's not because he's the best fighter, or even close to being the best fighter. Why?

Because he's exciting, and he gets paid to be exciting. Since returning for TUF 4, he's had ten fights and won bonuses for seven of them (4 Fight of the Night, 2 Submission of the Night and 1 KO of the Night).

Even if he lost his next two fights, the UFC won't cut him. Because in ten fights Lytle can put on seven awesome fights. Stevenson is the same way, and the UFC is going to keep him around for the same reason.

to me, its not always about winning, its about putting on exciting fights.

Look at Wandy, he lost to Chuck, Rampage, and Franklin, with only a win over Jardine in between.

But all of his fights were very exciting and very quality, with vs chuck and vs Franklin as two of my favorites ever.

You dont have to win all the time, or be in title contention to fight. However, you do have to not suck.

Josh i dont think ive seen your thoughts on Stevenson vs Sotiropoulos. I know you must have loved it though. It was obviouly one of the best ground battles we have seen in the UFC in awhile.

No way he gets cut, no way. Just because he lost to George (who put on his best performance ever) he is still relevant in the division, just might not ever be able to be a top0top guy. But so what, not everyone can be that good, but hes still an exciting fighter to watch and that matters a great deal.

So no ones going to answer the question about what hes doing next ??

He cant move up..and if he moves down....he goes to WEC...

so what does he do...who does he fight against ??

no ones answering because of one simple thing...

like i said...Joe seems like a good dude....and he put on some good performances...but..what does he do now?? rematch with Batman ?? i dont want to see that at all...

This thread is funny. And I'm not a Stevenson fan in the slightest...

Is this a joke? The guy was on a 2 win streak, one of his wins being Spencer Fisher, before this loss. Not only that but his longest losing streak was 2 losses and they were against one great opponent, Kenny Florian, and Diego Sanchez. And like you said, he gets fight of the night a lot. Not to mention he's been with the company for a very long time and is a TUF winner. I see no logic behind cutting him and I think Dana would agree as well.

Who do you put joe against..stop with your little * youre crazy*

and think like a promoter....

Hes costing ALOT of money compared to other guys....so you cant really put him under card....

And hes not good enough to fight the top guys....and hes beat all other middle cards...

ummmm lotsa things to do with him..

only Guida ...Is what I think theyll do next......win or lose...what next..

It was pretty impressive. I've seen Sotiropoulos in pure grappling before, and he's pretty phenomenal, but I was impressed by his standup, too. I expected him to have trouble with Stevenson's boxing, but he did fine, he got the fight to the ground when he needed to.

George looked great. I'm still not convinced he's a contender, but he definitely deserves to be in the mix, and fight some of the legit contenders like Maynard.
