Franklin vs. MacDonald

Rich Franklin v Jason MacDonald at UFC 68!

MacDonald's manager, Mark Pavelich of Pro Camp Sports Management, informed Sherdog.com that MacDonald was offered to fight Franklin on the UFC 68 card several days after the Canadian's sophomore appearance in the Octagon, where he defeated Chris Leben (Pictures) by modified guillotine choke.

UFC matchmaker Joe Silva was so impressed with MacDonald’s performance, said Pavelich, that on top of the Franklin offer, he agreed to a signing bonus and a new four-fight contract.
What's your thoughts on this one?

although i was impressed with macdonald's ground game, i dont think he can beat rich franklin. Franklin's standup is very good, much better than what jason macdonald seems to have. even though macdonald is good ont he ground i think rich is just too strong and too experienced. unfortunately, (im canadian) i think it will be a bad night for jason

I think it will be another Rich Franklin Vs Nate Quarry type fight. Rich dominates this one. Rich by KO. I like Macdonald but he just isn't at the championship level yet.

After watching the MacDonald Leben fight again MacDonald was constantly taking punches & Leben does have plenty of power. Plus he seems to like the clinch and we all know Franklin loves the clinch I know he's not anywhere near Sylva's skills but he's got a similar build, likes to clinch and has an excellent ground game. I just wonder if DIK has what it takes?

No way Rich is dropping 2 in a row.

It was a nice ride for MacDonald, and I truly do like the guy, but it ends at 68.

He has surprised a lot of people, but you gotta look at the facts.

I'll be the first to say I predicted he'd beat Herman and Leben, but that's because I never saw anything good in Ed Herman, nor do I in Leben..not taking anything away from MacDonald though.

MacDonald had trouble taking Leben down, and was eating plenty of punches to do so, Lebens wild punches are nothing compared to an accurate pin point striker like Franklin.

Not only that, if MacDonald did want to take Franklin to the ground, Franklin is a great wrestler, and has good ground skills. This isn't Leben we're talking about here. MacDonald isn't going to sub a guy with a choke ON TOP...only someone like Chris Leben could get into that position.

MacDonalds strikes were pretty dreadful, he landed a few on Leben...but well, we all know how Leben likes to leave himself wide open to some shots. MacDonald would get picked apart from the likes of someone like Franklin.

I just can't see MacDonald pulling out this one.

If i was Rich I would'nt take him lightly, and if I were MacDonald I'd give it all I have to beat Rich.
Its a big oppurtunity for MacDonald to make a big name for himself.

Glad to hear you'll be the first to take credit for upsets after they occur.

That aside, I agree, Macdonald isn't getting past Rich. SUre he'd win a submission match, but he's gettin KTFO in this instance.
