How far can Amir Sadollah go?

He was written off after being stopped by Johny Hendricks at UFC 101 but he has responded amazingly by dominating Phil Baroni and Brad Blackburn.

The question is: How far can he go though? In my opinion, he has a lot of potential. Great striking, really solid jiu-jitsu and ever-improving wrestling. However, he's fighting the undefeated Dong Hyun-Kim next who is a very good fighter but I believe, Sadollah will win that fight. Dong has a great ground game but Amir will out-strike him and avoid the takedown for long enough to establish dominance.

With that win, he'll be a contender in the division and maybe one or two wins away from a title shot. He is that talented IMO and is very funny so he could get a shot earlier as he can interact with the fans very easily.

So, who's aboard the Sadollah warwagon? I know I am.

PS: Please don't bring this topic up if Dong wins

Amir looked like an absolute monster against Baroni. If Amir can build up some more muscle mass he could be a monster. Kim is a real step up but both guys have a huge future and its a shame one of them has to lose.

Unfortunnately it took the 29sec KO by Hendricks to really get him going. I'm not too sure if I see him entering the title picture after a few more fights - but it is good seeing him stringing a few wins together. Perhaps in late 2011/2012 though, maybe.

Amir Sadollah's definitely one of my favourite fighters. His personality reminds me of Forrest, which is instant win, and I like watching him fight. His performances against Baroni and Blackburn were seriously impressive, his Muay Thai continues look excellent and he's constantly improving too. I think he's got a big future and am interested to see how far he goes.

Im on board. I love his exciting fighting style and although he couldn't show it in the Hendricks fight for lack of consciousness, he has a lot of heart. That fight with Matt Brown was a crazy war and both fights against CB were impressive too.
I think Amir is several more than 2 fights away from any kind of title talk and thats good coz he needs experience. I would not be shocked at all if Amir is fighting for the title one day at 170.

Come on people, the Baroni fight was like Amir vs a punchbag. What did impress me though was Amir taking a couple of shots and showing he isn't as susceptible to getting rocked as some may have thought after the Hendricks fight, and Baroni hits HARD.

Ok thinking about it, given Amir was 1-1 at the time, putting a beating on Baroni was kind of smile enducing and impressive.

Seriously though, I think he looked more impressive against Blackburn who actually fought back and has some good standup himself, and Amir showed he does have some power because he rocked Brad a couple of times.

Someone mentioned Amir being easy to hit, this I do agree with and he will need to sort that out if he's ever going to be a contender.

I dont see him competing for the title within the next year or maybe two, he needs to build up more muscle mass... I dont know why there are so many twigs in the UFC.

Sure you can get into the UFC and pull of wins with almost no muscle mass, but you wont be able to handle champions which are almost always in the best shape they can be.

Nate Diaz is another example, he will always be a gatekeeper until he puts on more muscle mass

I exaggerated Amir's rise to the title but I seriously think that he will get there because his striking and jiu-jitsu is so good. His wrestling isn't shitty though, obviously nowhere near the best in the division but it is improving. I think he'll beat Dong Hyun-Kim though.

He will not beat Kim.

Kim will take him down and pound the shit out of him for 3 rounds (Or he might stop him).

Did we forget that Amir is in a division filled with great wrestlers? Dude is going to stay with the Baroni's, Bad Brad's and Christmas Jake's.

Hes got good Muay Thai, the Hendricks fight was a joke and a travesty of a stoppage. He seems still a little timid and scared due to the pressure of being in the UFC and having no previous fight experience, but that will change with time. Hes got a lot of potential. He does need some defensive improvement though. It would behoove him to work on head movenment and footwork
