Is T. Silva not one of the most overrated fighters?

This thread is mainly for the Thiago Silva fans. It is great and all to back a guy, but his fans seem to think he is a top LHW. I saw on another site one fan thought in the next 2 years he would be a top 3 LHW and would hold the belt at some time. It was a topic of who he would fight next. bader came up and this fan said it would be a good tune up fight. Bader IMO would win.

Who has he beat? When he faced good competition he lost. Machida destroyed him and Rashad took him down at will.

T. Silva is not fast with his hands at all. He TDD is terrible. And his gas tank is below average.

The guy is overrated and hasn't really improved. Sure he may hover around the top 10 rankings, but in my opinion he hasn't earned the credit he usually gets. He definatly shouldn't get a big time fight. I like the thought of Bader, or Vera is he loses to Jon Jones.

Nope defo not overated still to me top 8 in the lhw division he nearly knocked out rashad and according to the camp he didnt finish rashad off becasue he had a back injury before the fight ! to me i can see him be the lhw champ before 2011 i think his next fight should be against luiz cane !

Needs much work on his TDD, examples would be his fights against Machida and Rashad. Keith was also able to take him down before he got KTFO.

Definitely not underrated, just needs work on his ground game. He has power in both hands and he's shown that against Jardine/Alexander.

Who has he beat? Just because he caugh Rashad in the 3rd round of a 3 round fight doesn't really matter. That won't win you fights. I agree he is on the low end of the top 10, but he doesn't have the speed, gas tank, or wrestling to ever be champ. He isn't a top 5 lhw and hasn't really shown anything to say he could beat a Rampage, Lil Nog, or Shogun. He needs to beat someone other than KOing Jardine like everyone does to get me to believe he is anything more than a decent fighter.

Thiago Silva > Rashad Evans he fought with an injured back and yet he still almost ktfo Rashad, you gotta give Thiago credit for taking that fight with an injury no one else would.

Facing Machida/Evans will only make him better IMO. Im not saying that he's a top contender at this moment, but lets not forget he's only 27 years old. He's already fought 2 top fighters in the division and the only way he can go is up. However, I hate to say that right now he reminds me of a 205 version of Kongo. His TDD is god awful but the power is certainly there.

hes not overated, at least from how i look at him, which is hes good at muay thai, strong, and pretty quick, with major holes in his game, namely getting put on his butt, and put there again and again, and his cardio. a Bader/Silva fight would be good IMO, wouldnt headline a PPV but a UFN for sure.

I don't think he's overrated.

The guy likes to put on good fights and has a couple HL reel KO's so I can see why he has fans that would overrate him.

He didn't show good TDD, but he was able to get back to the feet pretty quick vs Rashad which is something positive to take away on his part.

Still don't understand how catching someone and rattling him (not catching him and dropping him) in the 3rd round of a 3 round fight after getting takendown with ease, is such a great thing. Fighters rock other fighters all the time. Doesn't make a difference if it only made up 1/8 of the fight. He rattled Rashad and didn't go in for the kill. So what?

He has shown no real improvement to me, and will never be able to beat the top of the division. His best weapon...his striking, is slow. He can catch Jardine, but his slow ass hands won't catch anyone with godd defense.

I think he was overrated before he lost to Machida but not anymore. He's a great fighter but I've always thought his biggest weakness is that he's too predictable and that's something he will have to work on if he's going to get to the top of the division. Of course all UFC fighters will always have a few fanboys who overrate them though.
