I'm guessing you mean he's no longer considered a top HW? If so then I disagree. I personally think Kongo would be one of the best HWs in the UFC with a decent ground game. Look what he did to Cain Velasquez with short notice after replacing Heath Herring. Was destroying Cain in stand up. But sadly, his ground game is horrific and whenever he was winning in stand up, Cain would get that desperation takedown. The Frank Mir match ended too quickly to see what Kongo could do and even so, losing to Frank Mir isn't much of a step back. I wouldn't be surprised if Kongo quickly rose back up and got a title shot. All he has to do is learn TDD. I'm not a Kongo nut hugger, I just recognize his potential.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

Exciting strikers like Kongo have a longer shelf life, IMO.

Also, there's always the "will he kick his opponent in the nads repeatedly" curiosity.

He lost to Cain and Mir, not cut worthy. Another loss takes him completely out of the top tier discussion, but doesn't get him cut.

Think. It Ain't Illegal Yet

Agreed. The UFC is going to hold onto any fighters with a decent name simply to hurt Strikeforce.

The UFC is gonna be more than happy to cut fighters who are losing in the hope they will go to Strikforce and start winning fights then they can use that to make them look like a second tier organization. Kongo is not a big name.

no, he is a good draw in europe and has done the UFC alot of favors, taking very unfavorable matchup on short notice (Cain) and then taking on Frank an even higher ranked guy just to let him have some fake undeserved hype.

How do you lose to an up and comer on short notice and then face a higher ranked guy??? Cuz Dana knew he would very likely lose to Frank and it could get Frank on the way to Danas trilogy payday.

He also has entertaining fights, has that "look" that fans like and has a tremendous heart, no quit in Kongo.

No, i think Kongos job is safe for now, maybe 2 more losses.

Mir smashed Kongo into the ground and submitted him like 10 seconds into the fight. If Mir gets his ass kicked standing for 1 and a half rounds then gets a lucky takedown and submits Kongo, then maybe you could argue it's fake hype, but it didn't happen like that. Mir and Cain share recent dominant wins over Nog and Kongo but considering Cain got killed standing against Cheik where Mir annihilated Kongo and Nog decisively without losing any aspect of either fight and getting the easy finish on Kongo where Cain couldn't, if your boy deserves hype so does Mir.

I agree with the other parts of your post though. Kongo's got a cool look, an exciting style and he's a decent fighter too just with a blaring weakness. I think he takes Buentello but even if he doesn't they won't cut him.

No I disagree, for a start the HW division at Strikeforce is not second tier, the HW division at UFC has not had strength in depth for a long time and Strikeforce not only has the best fighters it is growing stronger through the ranks, its just the belt thats fcuked up over there but that problem will be rectified with just a few more fights, but then Brock been handed the belt on a plater was a joke also.

Anyway my point is that Kongo would add to that strength in depth, and if fighters like Kongo get cut from the UFC then who is left to give any new comer a worthy title run in order to get to there title opportunities, the UFC HW division is a big JOKE as it is without making it easier.

Cain will rise to the top of that division in the UFC, I doubt he would have such an easy run at Strikeforce, think about that.
