Yeah Karo is a badass, he shouldn't be afraid to fight anyone at 170 and I am sure that the way he brawls that he would fight Matt Hughes. That would be a really good fight....the best one for Hughes right now. I think Diego would outstrike him. Karo's striking is good but he isn't on GSP's level...may not be on Diego's level, Riggs got caught to early to see if Diego really is a great striker....but I bet he is.

Karo is definitely one of my top favorite fighters, so if he refused the challenge I'd be severely disappointed. On the other hand, this is the match up I'd love to see. Karo vs. Hughes has been hanging over our heads for quite some time.
If Karo doesn't fighter Hughes, than I definitely think Sanchez is up for the fight. No Lytle though, that guy sucks.

I'm just trying to figure out why Karo would refuse to fight Hughes. After I figure that out I will answer the question.

Doesn't sound like Karo to turn down a fight.
If not Sanchez or Parysian, then I guess BJ Penn or Josh Koscheck. Everyone else is a waste of time, especially Lytle.

Mainly because I know Hughes is going to win. This is practically a no-contest. Yeah, its nice to see Matt Hughes fight again, it would also be nice to see him get somewhat of a challenge.
So with that in mind, who would you like to see face Hughes at 68? Personally, I would like to see Nick Diaz get a shot! Yeah, Nick might lose that fight but I think he would be more of a challenge then Chris Lytle!

Anyone can beat anyone on any given night. Ask Keith Jardine and Joe Lauzon, they know.
With that said, here are some reasons why Hughes had a better shot at Karo or Diaz than he does against Lytle:
Lytle has been TKO'd once in his career and he's never been submitted. The TKO was in a standup contest and was from a cut. His opponent was Joe Riggs.
Lytle has power on the ground, whether on his back or on top and is legendary for his chokes. If you don't believe me, look at his record. Of Lytle's 15 submission wins, 11 of them are listed as choke.
When Chris Lytle met MFS warrior "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler at UFC 45, Lawler couldn't finish Lytle. Lawler and Hughes have similar styles.
I'm not saying that Lytle is going to crush Hughes, what I'm saying is that you shouldn't underestimate Lytle. He's never been finished via groundnpound despite fighting some very good groundnpounders. He's finished guys like PRIDE's Kazuo Misaki. He's a very good fighter.
I don't actually think Lytle will beat Hughes, but if Hughes gets in a bad position Lytle has the submission chops to finish him. (He's not Frank Trigg)
I'd like to see Diego fight Hughes, after he kicked Diesel's ass I think he deserves the matchup. No predictions on that one.
I've always wanted Karo v Hughes just because it's a judo v wrestling matchup and I've always thought that Karo was the one guy with better takedowns then Hughes. I don't know who'd win, but I'd be rooting for Karo.

Karo or Sanchez. Lytle has proved anything to me that says he deserves a shot against the former champ, Pretty much a gimmie win for HUghes. I still hope lytle kicks his ass.

1st choice : Sanchez - already ruled out.
2nd choice : Diaz - This I would like but it would be a shame to see him losing a decision again to the better end of the WW division, which seems to be how it goes for him.
3rd choice : Get MAYHEM back in there! I'm not saying he could beat Hughes but he's well worth the watch, he's got heart & would give Hughes a great fight.
4th choice : Karo for all the reasons already stated. He is a great fighter there's just something I don't like about the guy.

Sorry for nitpicking, your whole post was great, but this just made me go "WTF!?". How do you get to the conclusion that Hughes and Lawler have similar styles? I can't figure it out. Hughes is a wrestler with over 40 fights and 0 KO's. Lawler is a stand-up unorthodox boxer with lots and lots of KOs. I don't see any similarities at all other than the camp they come from. Please explain cuz maybe I am a dumbass who is missing an important detail.
Zender, how in the HELL can you not like Karo? LOL, I've never met anyone who didn't like Karo, that is crazy.
