Alves and his drugs

Thiago Alves is the lasteset to get busted. What are your takes on the need to strictly punish their mis-use? With all the new talent being signed, I think the UFC can afford to come down hard on those who offend. In the past they have been quick to give the likes of sylvia and likely bonnar fights as soon as their suspensions are over - with the wait time between fights that we normally see the short suspensions seem to be fairly light in the end. I would like to see a zero tolerance policy after the first offence - ie the UFC will not resign you.

As in all sports I think they get off way to easy, these guys like other althletes are being given chances that none of of us will ever have and what do they do with these opportunites, they use illegal drugs, get arrested for all sorts of crap and then have the audacity to complain that they are being treated unfairly. If they cheat and get caught they should be punished accordingly, their cheating has a direct impact on other athletes getting ahead in their respective sport.

I think they should be suspended a year. Then they should be able to fight again. People make mistakes. I don't think it affects the integrity of the sport if they are caught then suspended. And have the win removed from their record. And the loss removed from the other guys record. They should also lose their purse for that fight. The problem with it is if you have it go unchecked. Like Barry Bonds playing for years on them and breaking records.

I agree with TYKIDD. Give him a year off or a decent amount of time to think about it and let him fight again. But if he would screw up again cut him loose.
