I am in the minority here but I don't consider Vera that much of a step up from Hamill. Sure he is a step up, but not much of a step up in my opinion. Go look at who Hamill and Vera has beat and tell me there is that much of a difference. Hamill basically beat Bisping too, not that that means that much. But Vera has few great wins, his best being Mir when his head wasn't right and his striking was weak...and that was how many years ago?
Sure Vera brings a different skillset, but I always considered Hamill to be a guy that I would never see thrown around. I always thought yea maybe he will never be a top talent but he is a super wrestler with amazing strength. JJ through him around in a shocking matter. So Vera to me is a step up, but not that big of one, and seeing how JJ just manhandled Hamill until being DQ'd you have to think he can do similar to Vera. Vera's Greco comes into play here but he is no where near as strong as Hamill.
Maybe Vera doesn't get finished, but he doesn't bring it either. His potential has ran dry, he has to to start finishing a fight or just stringing wins together to even be considered a good LHW in my book.
