I dont understand the meaning of this thread? Taking a point away is VERY harsh when there is only 3 rounds....

How could they make it worse? And with Jones getting DQ'ed from his illegal blows and if its Herb Dean Reffing then i see zero problem the way they are...

And its obvious that no one likes them... But its a full contact fight with few illegal shots that are bound to happen.

And when most of them are determined if the fighters Knee is down or up it can be tricky to know when ur able to throw.

it was a suggestion mate. if you are going to do option A or option B, i would rather it be A. just cuz its not a problem now dosent mean it cant become one. honestly brandon vera could call dana white right now and whine to him about how his orbital is broken from an elbow to the face, and it would be just what im talking about, and boom bitching about illegal maneuvers.

but then GREY AREA ALERT! what about like what happened with buentello in the 2nd round against kongo, put a hand and knee down to force the break due to illegal knee to a downed opponent. im all for protection, but i just like having mind made up across the board. dont know how you can when its something like head knees though. :/ DILEMMA!

Herb Deran is the man!

With that said the 12-6 elbow rule must go. It makes no sense, esp when Kongo elbowed Pauls butt (!!) and got warned. Lol!

Agreed Herb is the man! and Agreed that the 12-6 elbow rule NEEDS TO GO! THAT or just have zero elbows on the ground because hitting from 12 - 3 ISN'T that much harder of a hit...

Don't make enough sense....

it would be going back, and the UFC wouldnt be able to be sanctioned in as many places if the rules were changed much, and its still not sanctioned in certain places.

fans can complain all they want, but the best thing for the UFC going forward, and trying to get even more globalized then they already are, is to just leave it alone.
This sums it up for me. Everything but the 12 to 6 elbows I'm happy with.

I think Kongo obviously needs to face harsher penalties, hell I saw the fact he was bound to knee Buentello in the head coming a mile away and I was hardly the only one. On the plus side maybe we should just commend Kongo for managing to get into the third round and win a fight without kicking somebody in the gonads for once.

That was astounding, however I believe he may have thrown one knee at Buentello's nuts.

He did, I saw that too.

Also, the blows in this event seemed like they were more dirty fighting than accidental. ESPECIALLY that first knee Kongo hit Buentello in the dome with (and the one to his balls) and that second upkick from Vera. The first one I was like "Well his one knee is up so he could've been posted..." The second one he had both his knees on the floor. ****, IIRC Vera had a hold of his left knee.

12-6 elbows to the thigh/butt should be legal but besides that I'm fine with the rules. I personally love how Rogan tries to make an incredibly long argument about 12-6 elbows every time he gets the chance.

EDIT: For everyone saying the 12-6 elbow should be all around legal, that's insane. That movement of the elbow is way more powerful then 3-6. Not only that but imagine how quickly fghts would end when a fighter got the mount. 12-6 elbows are can slip right through a fighter's arms when blocking and they have devastating force. Not only that but the likelyhood of the fighter being cut is very high. I agree that the warning on the elbow to the butt yesterday was absurd though.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.
