Cheick Kongo [spoilers]

Last night I was watching his fight and noticed how static he is when he strikes, hardly any head movement at all. It's not surprising Mir had him on his arse so quick.

I used to think Kongo had very good standup, especially after he battered CroCop. But now I'm thinking his striking isn't actually that great. He didn't seem to have any obvious advantage over Buentello in the standup, and his head was so static I thought he was going to get KOd.

As a side note, do you think Cain would get tagged so much if they fought again? It must just be a case of styles making fights but it seems strange that Cain can look so crisp against Nog but almost got KOd by Kongo.

If Kongo's standup isn't what I and maybe some others thought it was, what has this guy really got to offer the heavyweight division?

He only battered CroCop after turning him into a girl with purposeful knees.

Kongo has vicious ground and pound and good slams. His stand up is easily undone by good counter punching. I'm not shocked either that Mir dropped him.

Kongo will be a gatekeeper. Hes a can crusher, but he'll never be title worthy

Attero Dominatus.

Meh, I really couldn't care less about Kongo. He was billed as a great striker and all he seems to want to do is go for meaningless takedowns over and over again to win on points.

What an extreme waste of a good striker. I mean really... Did he really think that Buentello would be able to outstrike him? Meh, fade away Kongo. You are going to quickly lose popularity with your new found "style."

He gave some reason at the press conference for his takedown strategy but I couldn't understand him. I think he said something changed a week before.
