Bader, Simpson, CB join Lions Den
Quote:
Former ASU wrestling standouts and current UFC stars change training campsby Scott Peters (March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:49am) Policy >> Talk About It
It's official. UFC stars Ryan Bader, Aaron Simpson, and C.B. Dolloway have left Arizona Combat Sports, their previous home for MMA training, and have since joined The Lion's Den in Scottsdale AZ.
The MMA forums have been buzzing for the past week as speculation has surrounded the departure of these highly regarded fighters.
Bader just recorded his most impressive win via knockout over a big time name in MMA, Keith Jardine. Simpson and Dolloway are also coming off wins vs. UFC opposition, making this group of fighters highly coveted by many MMA experts who consider them as legitimate "title contenders" in the highly talented crop of 185lb, and 205lb fighters in the UFC.
The trio joins a stacked team at the Lion's Den which features some very highly talented fighters with World Class wrestling pedigrees. 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist, and Phoenix native Henry Cejudo is training at Lion's Den, along with 2-time NCAA Champ and U.S, Olympic Team wrestler Ben Askren, former NCAA Champ at ASU Eric Larkin, and Jesse Forbes who currently fights in the UFC. The Den features some of the best up and coming talent in the game, in Larkin and Cejudo. Askren has already made his presence known having won his first two fights with ease. Askren recently signed with "Bellator Fighting Championship," which will be televised on Fox Sports Channel. Bellator is an elimination style tournament.
The departure of Bader, Simpson, and Dolloway from ACS has come as no surprise to those close to the situation. Since the guys felt they were not improving at ACS, they joined Lion's Den to take their careers to the next level.

Lion's flippin' Den??? Erm, I don't know what CB is thinking but he would have been better off staying at ASU than going to the Den. I really thought that he'd at the very least join AKA. Disappointing news.

exactly what I was thinking until I read the part about the Olympic wrestlers. No way someone with the brains talent and drive to medal in the Olympics would put their training and careers in the hands of Ken Shamrock.

i don't think this was even on the list of possibilites when we discussed it on the ohter thread last week.
seems they didn't want to leave home... who knew AZ has TWO mma clubs.
so which would have been worse, Hammer House or Lions Den?

Hey, at least they will get to work with Ken's nutritionist, right?

I didn't even know Lion's Den still existed. I wonder if they're still practicing headbutts and groin shots.
