We pretty much all agree, that the HW division is kinda watered down and dull right now thanks to the champ. My money is on Randy seeing this as well. He probably figures he can move back up and put on a show with the current belt-holder. I'll put my money on the fact that this one may also be for the fans...until CC is ready. Plus like it or not...the match will most likely be great to watch.

The motivation was Randy wanting to compete, and the UFC needing SOMETHING to turn the lights on for HW pay per views. As it stands, Sylvia can not hold a main event card alone, compared to the LHW Champ, MW Champ possibly, WW Champ for sure...

I don't think Randy is as crazy as you guys think. His last two fights were to a beastly Chuck Liddell, which most of us concur is pretty damn hard to beat these days. Was Randy washed up because he lost to Chuck? No. He got KTFO by the best fighter he could have fought at the time. It's not like he went down Frank Mir's road.

I think you gotta give him some credit. He didn't come back to fight Eddie Sanchez or freaking Brad Imes or some shit. He came straight for the champ. That's balls. No matter what you say about it, that is BALLS.

Bas Rutten came back from retirement, lots of guys returning to the UFC (Penn, Pulver, etc) is it such a bad thing? Let Randy do his thing. It's more important for him to say he tried a new challenge than "I went out on top." We are all dying to get rid of Sylvia some way or another, let's take any shot we can get cuz with Vera gone, we're pretty sure there wasn't anyone else left. CroCop's turn is gonna be awhile because they want to make that up for the murder it will be. Maybe Randy can get Tim, he's observed the shit out of his last few fights commentating on them, he knows him inside out.

I'm no TS fan, but you haters are blinded by ....hate. Tim will end his career again, if not his life. Randy is DONE.
Mirko will be the future champ, then we can have a UFC vs Pride match and we all get to see what we want, FEDOR vs CROCOP II and CL vs WS!

Ok but not great!

To be honest, I like the matchup, but I was looking forward to Vera vs Sylvia. I like couture, and i like vera, or maybe its just that I really, REALLY dont like Sylvia, oh well. I do think randy is a superior fighter than sylvia.

I don't think its so bad, I'm actually stunned to hear this right now. Just because hes in his 40s it doesnt mean hes gonna be like Ken Shamrock, some people age worse than others. He was doing very good at the end of his career, what his age has gotten to him just because he lost to Chuck Liddell? Theres no one in the LHW division that can beat Chuck right now anyways. Give the guy some credit. If you want to give a guy some grief go give Mark Coleman some grief, haha.

Anyways, this fight would be pretty good. Tim Sylvia might beat him due to his size advantage and long jabs, Tim Sylvia also isnt bad at defending on the ground. Although I wouldn't count Randy Coutore out, this would make for a very interesting fight in my opinion.

theres just no way he'll be able to beat sylvia. not possible. sylvia has striking power as much as chuck (even though hes retarded in that he doesnt really use it, just his long jab) and is good on the ground (as evidenced by not getting submitted by monson.
