Randy should just stay away.

I KNEW he would come back as soon as he announced his retirement, it never fails with these egotistical athletes who want the glory when they "retire" then they want more and want to make a dramatic comeback to the sport....

Funny thing is when Randy said he would fight Tito if he had won the title....so now that Chuck has won..well that's out of the question so let's move up a division and take on the other champ Sylvia...

I've lost a lot of respect for the Natural in the past couple of weeks...I'll probably get flamed for this but damnit...I get pissed.

it seems that ufc will give a preliminary bout to Vera in 8 months to finish his contract. i think Verda did a big mistake , cause maybe he earn more money somewhere else but he could be champ in ufc HW. however with crocop coming to ufc there be new champ as soon as he get the title shot.

and the big mistake is done by randy if he ever comeback to fight...

Yep your an idiot. It isn't ego it is a desire and a will to compete. A lot of Atheletes can't handle retirement. I would pay to watch Randy fight as long as he thinks he can. He is a great guy. A great Champ. And likely the new heavyweight champ. I have agreed with a lot of your posts in the past but now I don't think I'll respect anything you write again.

Trust me, I've followed the Natural for a long time, and I know he's a great guy, and yes, he is a great fighter...and just because I've lost respect for him doesn't mean I don't respect him at all.

It's not an ego thing? Please, I'm sure he misses competing but yes, it is an ego thing...how else would you explain the fact that "Oh, well if Tito wins then I'll come out of retirement and fight him..." if it was all about the "will to compete" why wouldn't he want to fight the WINNER of the Tito/Chuck fight?

So now that Tito lost, well he's going to try something else, and go for Sylvia...to me it just seems like a cowardly move to do to avoid Chuck like that.

I don't think its a matter of Randy avoiding Chuck! Randy fought Chuck 3 times and lost twice! I very much doubt the UFC would sign off on a fourth match between the two. I don't think people are interested in seeing a fourth match anyways.

Because he knows he only has a few fights left in him. He can't waste his time fighting cans the guy is in his 40's. He wanted to fight again and he has star power. That is like saying when Muhammed Ali came back to fight Foreman he should have just fought some D-league chump instead of Forman. He want's to compete and he wants to do it on the big stage with a lot hanging in the balance I don't understand how you can fault a guy for that.

I'm not saying he should come back and fight some hacks.

I'm saying that he's obviously wanting to come back and fight a fight that he knows he'll win...hence him wanting to fight Tito if Tito were the champ...and now wanting to fight Sylvia, which I'm sure will be for the title.

To me I think it's kind of selfish for the Natural to want to come back and challenge Tito for the title, a guy he manhandled through 5 rounds....then challenge Sylvia for a title to a guy he knows he can work the clinch and possibly take to the ground...

To me it's kind of out of ego to want to come back and challenge for a title right away when you've had over a year of absence and have done nothing credible since then to earn a title fight.

And like someone else said, the only thing the Natural has coming for him if he does beat Sylvia is a date with CC....which will probably end badly if Couture got clipped by Liddell twice, CC is going to give him a brain hemorrhage.

Well I guess when Randy said "This is the last time you're going to see these gloves or these shorts in this octagon." he meant he was going to update his wardrobe. :)

You would hate to see his return be a frustrating bout similar to the Monson/Silvia fight - decision going to Silvia. Can Randy strike with Silvia? People are probably of the opinion Silvia doesn't have the standup Chuck has, but like people have mentioned, his size seems to dominate smaller guys.

Listen if one of the greatest of all time comes back I personally don't think he should earn a title shot. And like I said before he doesent have the time to earn a shot he is in his 40's. And saying he want's to fight Tito cause he knows he will win is silly. He want's to fight Tito because everyone on the planet want's to fight Tito. I wan't to fight Tito. Dana knows he is a big draw so why waste the few fights he has left on the heavyweight trash in the UFC. Were you complaining when Gracie came back and fought Hughes????

If Tito had beaten Chuck, then I very much doubt Randy could manhandle him like he did the first time! Hell, Tito could probably have walked on water if he beat the number 1 Light Heavy Weight of the world! So how would that have been a step down? Also, what makes you think fighting Tim Sylvia is easier then Chuck Liddell? Yeah Sylvia is boring but when Monson got him on the ground, he couldn't do sh*t! As far as the getting a title shot, who else in the heavyweight division is qualified to get a shot now? Vera's out, Gonzaga refused, Mirko is fighting Sanchez, AA already fought Tim three times. Right now, Randy is the best pick!

Joe Rogan sits down with two UFC legends: light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell, who is fresh off his TKO win over Tito Ortiz, and Hall of Famer Randy Couture, who will make an announcement that will send shockwaves throughout the mixed martial arts world.
from ufc.com

so whats the deal, he plans to get the belt from tim and then just retire again if he loses to crocop? if thats the case, i think its a little disrespectful to the sport
