Hopefully he pulls some matrix style moves like he did with Forrest.
^^this 100%. silva is going to destroy maia whenever he decides to. i agree that this is a waste of a fight. i'm going to go as far as to say this fight never hits the mat (at least not for silva. maia will be hitting the mat very quickly). maia had his hands full with dan miller. if he's so great, why couldn't he finish miller. silva is not miller, and thus this will end badly for maia.

Yes but MMA is still so much different! Maia never subbed such a legit Black Belt like Anderson or ever fought somebody like that before in MMA. He fought 2 Black Belt's wich I know and went both times to a decision with them.. but were they on a level like Silva? I just don't believe, that he will be able to submit Anderson. But if somebody can do it, it's probably Demian!

Lmaooo!

Chances are very low considering this is going to look almost identical to the Leites fight. Silva simply won't go to the ground with Maia and Maia won't want to stand so there is going to be a lot of nothing going on. Leites wouldn't get involved even when it was obvious he was losing, maybe Maia will. If he does he'll get knocked out for his troubles but Silva isn't stupid, he wouldn't risk it with Leites, he sure as hell won't with someone even better at grappling.

Not saying Silva should either, just saying don't expect this to be a barn burner.

what i dont get is... the only BJJ blackbelts Maia faced in MMA. he struggled with with on the ground.

nevermind that Anderson has longer limbs and still alot of power in his ground striking (especially elbows).

i really dont see Anderson getting caught in a triangle.

Miller held his own, i think Andy can more then hold his own if a ground situation arises. Hopefully it will.
When I first came to the site I didn't care for you much.
But you seem to have common sense, which I respect.

Agree, Anderson isn't Chael Sonnen. He knows what to do on the ground. Obviously Maia is better on the ground so he could sub him. But its not like if this does hit the ground (which is a decent if in itself) then Maia will tap him. It will take some work.

I'd say Maia has a 5% chance of winning this fight. And the only chance I see is a sub. So I will go 5% chance he subs him.

Just because Maia didn't submit Miller doesn't mean he couldn't. Really Maia didn't ever really try to do anything on the ground against Miller. Watching I found it extremely frustrating.
