Sylvia's days as champ could be numbered against Randy Couture. What Couture said about Sylvia being overly cautious and his critique of the Monson fight was bang-on. I'd add his title defence against Arlovski to that pile, as well. In his last two outings, Sylvia, a striker, has faced two opponents weak against strikers (Arlovski because he is said to have a weak chin, and Monson for being so much shorter) and gone to decision in both cases, in fights that were so boring I was flipping the channel. Indeed, in the Monson fight, I wasn't impressed by Sylvia, but I was impressed by Jeff Monson, who actually went out and tried to finish the fight by taking the big lummox down. I mean, if you're a striker, and you're fighting a submission wrestler who's nine inches shorter then you are, and that you outreach by a foot (was it a foot? Or more?), how do you not knock his block off in the first round?
I guess we'll see. But if Couture comes up the underdog on the line, which I expect he will, I might put some cash on Captain America.
