I know how Dana White can make it up to the fans

Make Anderson Silva fight on free TV. Give us a free payperview (UFC does 1-2 of these a year) and have Silva main event or co-main event again. Make Silva "earn" his way back to payperview main eventing with an impressive performance to build faith in him as the p4p best and true main event payperview fighter.

Your thoughts? What do you want Dana to do to repay the fans? Honestly I was not mad at the fight and feel it's been blown out of proportion to an extent Dana is mainly heated due to this being their first time in Abu Dhabi and Silva pulling this off. If this was in America it wouldn't half as bad as Dana is making it out to be. I feel the Thales Leites fight was by far worse (alot of it had to do with Thales where Maia actually came to fight in this fight and Silva didn't). So with having such low expectations coming into this fight (assumed Maia would pull a Leites) I was actually interested in watching this fight take place live.

My thoughts are that this needs to stop, You have given nothing new in terms of adding to this discussion. There have been thousands of topics regarding this same discussion. Dana needs to stop feeding Silva pure BJJ guys. They just run around the cage avoiding strikes. Maia was doing the exact same thing for 3 rounds..

Sure he changed and went for broke in round 4-5, by that time I think Silva had enough of him and was showing him how annoying it could be. This message was towards the UFC just as much as Maia I think.

I think Dana might have forced this match on him becaus he hasnt defended a title in a long time, and you need to defend your title at least once a year or something.

Well that pretty much had nothing to do with the OP's post. He was quoting dana white when he said; "im going to make it up to the fans". I havnt seen any threads or many posts on the matter, unless ive missed them.

Also to your post, anderson was supposed to be facing vitor belfotrt, a striker. Vitor got injured, the fight was called off, what do you expect dana to do in this situation. Who else at middleweight was there to fight silva? Chael couldnt because he was healing, so who else had a legitimate shot at silva? No body other than Maia.

Onto the thread point. I dont know what dana has got up his sleeve here. I thought maybe he could give everyone a free event or maybe more than one event but that would be too predictable and meh. For a moment i actually thought, Fedor? Before he said he would make it up to the fans he said that in the abu dhabi crowd, there wee chants of "fedor p4p number 1, this crowd knows what their talking about" or some thing along them lines. I dont see why he would mention this. I have thought that ever since strikeforce put together overeem/rodgers, fedor would be having negotiations with the ufc. Maybe dana will sign fedor and make his first event a free one. Who knows.

Dana could have arranged a LHW or a small HW opponent. I dont see how Dana couldnt see this coming from a mile away. What is the difference in Leites and Maia except for the BJJ skill? Nothing.

I already knew Maia was gonna run around and avoid striking and do some stupid takedown attempts without setting it up properly. Thats what BJJ guys do without any striking ability. Sure Maia turned it on in round 4-5 but by that time Silva already had enough.

Dana should of seen vitor getting injured from a mile off, what?

Champions have to defend their belt as well. He had just come off a win at LHW, it was time to defend his belt. How do you know dana didnt ask silva if he wanted to have another lHW fight or HW fight? Maybe he rejected it, vitor pulled out of the fight quite late into the training regime. Any ways this has nothing to do with what the OP wants to discuss, so lets just leave it.

what? dont need to be stupid in saying that. What I said about Leites and Maia is totally fair. How many times has Dana said that a person isnt ready for a title fight.

Maynard is the perfect example, he has been doing beter then Maia recently but Dana wouldnt let him fight BJ for the belt. Why did he not come out and say that same thing for Maia? Most of us were scratching our heads when the Maia fight got announced.

I was saying "what" in response to you saying dana should of seen vitor getting injured from a mile off? How could he have seen this from a mile off?

The answer is as clear as day, because there was no one else left in the middleweight division worth of a title shot against Silva, im scratching my head at people not understanding this? Who else in the MW division should he have give it to? Wanderlei silva? Who?

How about Dana announces a poll on UFC.com where the fans vote for who they want Anderson to fight next? 3 fighters to pick from:

Randy Couture
Jon Jones
Little Nog (assuming he beats Forrest)

Letting the fans choose who they want Anderson fight for their $50 sounds good to me.

Silva doesn't need to make anything up to anyone. He easily destroyed the #1 contender, whether he showboated or not, this isn't just sport, it's entertainment and he certainly entertained me. There are always going to be haters.

Maybe he did cross the line a little bit, but he was clearly tired, he did what he had to do to win and to be honest he shown the world how much of a specimen he really is.

However, I do like ZaoSyn's idea of a poll, to let the fans decide who he fights. I'm just not sure the polled fighters would be happy about it. In a way, that's kind of a punishment to them.
