I think that BJ just thinks he's invincible at LW so he didnt bother coming up with a unique gameplan for each of his fights. He just wants to stand and bang, and punish you when you try to take him down. Deigo and Kenny and Stevenson all fight the kind of fight that BJ wants his opponent to fight. If Edgar had pressed BJ the way Deigo did Im guessing he'd have gotten beaten up and KOed. No one has tried to pick BJ apart in a striking match before Edgar. Also, I've got to think that one of the reasons that Edgar's cardio made such a difference was that they were fighting outside in the desert. Frankie's definitely got the cardio edge, but if it wasnt so hot and humid I don't think BJ would have slowed down the way he did in the 5th.
IMO BJ sees himself as a warrior, and he (rightly) feels he can win any war at LW, but Frankie didnt give him a war, he just stuck to his gameplan of sticking and moving. Look for BJ to bring it to Edgar in the rematch. Use his punches to setup the clinch and smoosh Frankie against the fence then drag him down and choke him out. Or maybe he'll just be more aggressive standing with Frankie. Frankie moves really fast and is hard as hell to hit so if I was BJ I would just take him to the mat because he could get picked apart while he chases the little guy all around the cage.
Bottom line, if BJ makes it a war there is no way Frankie retains. Penn has the KO power that Edgar doesn't,and Penn's ground game would finish Edgar if he took him down.
