Frank evolves to help himself move with the times. People love to hate on him but the guy has been very relevant in the HW division for like 7 years now despite losses and a brutal injury during that stretch. He fixes shit, comes back, and wins.

Gonzaga is a perpetual gatekeeper who can't figure out how to apply his BJJ into MMA and none of his other skills are strong enough to get him to the top.

This fight would be a win for Mir that all the haters would immediately discredit.

I'd rather see him face JDS. I think that's a fight where Mir could actually use his new strength, as opposed to the Carwin fight where he was the weaker of the two anyway. He could tangle up and work it to the ground. Mir wouldn't try to strike. It's sort of understandable why he'd try to strike with Carwin but it'd take a total failure of a camp to have him training to strike with JDS.

The grappling match that Nelson won against Mir several years ago puts a bit of storyline interest into that fight too, and Nelson's really starting to seem like the real deal.

Gonzaga just can't seem to beat anyone good and I don't see any reason to think he'd start now with Mir. Give Gonzaga Kongo.

Why does everyone rag on GG and his wrestling? The guy has taken down everyone he has ever tried to take down.

Really GG disapoints me so much. He has probably the best skillset in the UFC HW division. He is a good striker with insane power, great wrestling and phenominal jitz. He is a lot like Vera, they both have crazy skillsets, but something doesn't click for some reason, and it's really unfortunate.

A fight with GG does nothing to actually sort out the division. A fight with JDS gives you a pretty solid one through three.
... you think that Mir deserves to face JDS, who mind you has already earnt a title shot, after getting wrecked by Carwin in the first round? I think not ....

However Mir v Gabe Gonzaga or Big Country makes sense to me.

JDS hasn't earned a title shot yet, you have to beat someone resembling a top 5 fighter to get a title shot and he hasn't fought one of those guys yet. He has beaten a couple decent guys but Mir is definitely a step up in competition coming off a lose or not.

Also what is JDS going to do just sit around for over a year waiting for his title shot? Lesnar vs Carwin is in July and then Velasquez gets the next shot. If you aren't going to give him Mir then who, Nelson?

Mir doesn't deserve Dos Santos, Mir has gotten tooled 2 of his last 4 fights (and got gifted a sub from another thrashing in a third) and JDS is on a very impressive 5 UFC fight win streak. I think JDS would tool Mir something terrible, this is a bad matchup coming off a loss.

Put me in the Gonzaga-Mir camp ... I think this is a very interesting match and personally I would bet on Gonzaga in this fight. I think the guy has tons of potential and he only loses to the best, and Mir is slightly overrated. It is also a much more exciting and closer fight to call than than the toolfest that would be JDS vs Mir.

It makes sense from Mir's side as well... you don't want to face a guy like JDS coming off another devastating loss. Gonzaga is a good comeback fight with a decent possibility for a bounce back by Mir.

if that fight was to happen, i highy doubt it would go to the ground, unless roy tries taking it to the ground, cuz i know that he cant hang with mir on the stand up.

I dont see this goin to the ground.

Well at the time Gonzaga wasn't that far away from being top 5, maybe 7 or so. Fine if JDS was to have another fight - perhaps give him Cain then. That way, neither wait around.

I disagree here. Mir is still a top 5 HW in the UFC, and the two fights he lost were against the 1 and 2 guys. Meanwhile, Cain has all but said he is going to sit out and wait for a title shot, and Dana has confirmed that as well. That means the heavyweight title is tied up for 9 months MINIMUM, probably a year. The question then is, what do you do with JDS for all of that time? Give him a can? Or give him a legitimate HW who can solidify his spot as a top HW.

It is a win-win for the UFC. If Mir wins he is right back in the title picture. If JDS wins he is THE top contender. If Mir beats GG, what does it mean? Nothing. He will still be in the same spot he is in now.

Mir vs. GG please! 2 guys with some KO power and constantly improving striking, but the real gem is that Mir is known as one of the most explosive submission specialists in ufc while GG is second to only Maia when it comes to grappling credentials. Im expecting this to be a striking match, but I would REALLY love to see how Mir does on ground against a monster like Gabe.

Make it happen!
