UFCThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts organization, recognized as the largest MMA promotion in the world. UFC is currently undergoing a remarkable surge in popularity, along with greater mainstream media coverage. UFC programming can now be seen on FOX, FX, and FUEL TV in the United States, as well as in 35 other countries worldwide.
Maybe its just me, but it doesnt seem like they are making a big deal of mirko at all. They keep mentioning rampage, and doing interviews of rampage, but nothing with cro cop. Is this possibly because they knew randy was coming back and didnt want 2 big contenders at once?
I think its just cause he probably is still tying up loose ends at home before moving to the states - true we havent seen any highlights either but thats cause Pride owns the rights to all of the footage. Im sure they will hype him at the right time. People that dont know him already arent going to buy Pay Per Views based on a commercial or an interview anyway..........
they dont even have a picture of him on the ufc site yet, i just thought they would hype it a little more.
I was surprised that Rampage got a whole segment on Inside the UFC and Rogan did a sentence or two on CroCop. Granted, Rampage is a little bit more flamboyant and more entertaining without the highlight reel.
I am disappointed that the UFC hasn't broadcast a highlight reel on him, because he is the #2 heavyweight in the world. I understand the issues with copyright, but you would think that the UFC would be willing to pay for it. I figure it would make it's money back in additional ppv buys, but maybe the UFC doesn't see it that way. Whatever.
Still, all of the fighters know who he is, and they know that he is going to be the real king of the UFC. Eddie Sanchez is just the first face that gets broken on that UFC highlight reel.
When he has his first fight, trust me there will no longer be any need for hype, his skills will do all the talking and everybody will know who CroCop is.
I agree. I think visa problems and the like are part of it, though they do now have a small picture of him on the UFC 67 poster. I think it may actually work out for the better. Let's assume that a large part of the audience and people at home don't have any idea who Cro Cop is: Here is a scenario: Fred is at his home watching the PPV with Sarah, Mike, and Jeff and drinking beers. He sees the Cro Cop fight coming up , doesn't think much as he's waiting for "The Showdown" between Silva and Lutter and goes to take a piss. Suddenly while in the bathroom he hears yells coming from the living room. "Oh shit!!!! Yo Fred you gotta get in here now and see this shit! Oh my god..." he runs into the living room with his fly open just in time to see Mirko kicking the shit out of Eddie with the crowd going nuts in the background. I see a lot of hits on Cro Cop on Google Video, You tube, Daily Motion, etc... the following day.
