As soon as he gets cut and ends up in a lower organization, maybe even lower then SF, I guarantee you he will be biting himself in the ass.

Joe needs to work just as hard as his lil Bro, I would never throw my lil bro out Nor leave him to corner himself, I dont give a shit what the reason, here's what would happen to my brother, he would be rolling with me those 11 times a week and if not I would crawll up his ass, not kick him out last sec and leave my blood to go fight in another town with a corner full of people that really dont mean shit to him.....

...That's a bummer. Sometimes the worst blood is family blood. It shouldn't be that way but life is no bowl of cherries. I like how the Diaz & Guida brothers support each other. They set good examples...

Yeah.. i dunno, i see both their points of view.

Dan needs to grow up and take his job seriously because if he wont there is 100 thousands out there that would gladly take his place. Joe on the other hand needs to realize this is his brother and he needs to look out for him... put your differences aside and corner him and then after do w/e the hell you want.

But lets be honest... There is a third side to this story and its called "the truth". Chances are both of them are fibbing their stories up a bit to make themselves seem like the good guy. Cant blame them when it is public news...

CC, not to be an ass, but did you even read the full article? Joe has been on his ass for a couple of years and got tired of getting called a dickhead. Him and the other coaches gave Dan an ultimatum, and Dan failed to live up to it. Not sure why they decided to make the deal effective in the middle of training camp, but that was the deal. Just because Dan is his brother, doesn't mean, Joe shouldn't let Dan walk over him. Dan wouldn't even have a job with the UFC if Joe hadn't been talking him up for the past two years.

IMO if you never fight with your brother, than you don't really care. No two people agree 100% of the time. And you would only bother to argue about it if you cared about the person. If it was someone you didn't care about you would probably do one of 3 things: 1) physically impose your will upon them, 2) just walk away/agree with them, or 3.) Just go ahead with what your doing ignoring the other person.

I'm an Italian who grew up in Hawaii, so yeah, I know a thing about family loyalty. But I see this as ending a business relationship, not their relationship as brothers. Joe says at the end he still hopes his brother wins. I agree, that the timing is wierd but, if that was part of the deal, than so be it.

Joe and the rest of the coaches didn't abandon him last minute apparently this all happened last month, and Dan decided to drag it all publicly...

shit happens and joe will obviously be there for dan once he realizes he's blowing a huge opportunity by not taking these fights for the UFC seriously...

The initial reaction from the public would be that it's unwarranted, but the fact is the entire coaching team made a consensus agreement that it was the final resort. Owning a business myself I deal with all sorts of employees. You always get the ones who try to cruise by in life and basically what they said about Dan. I can NOT feel sorry for someone like that. He's spoiled, lazy, has no ambition and needs to learn the hard way. Simple as that. He probably gets free training in top notch facilities where other fighters have to work odd jobs just to pay for expenses. Coaches that are trying to push him to succeed. Dan obviously is not cut out to be a fighter and should be let go.

Not quite sure what you mean by Joe needing to work harder. It's pretty clear that Joe's work ethic is on a different level from Dan's and it's shown in their progression over the years. Dan was supposed to be the better fighter of the two (this, according to JOE) but over the years Joe has changed camps to work with world class fighters while Dan has not.

I respect your beliefs but it's almost like you're saying you read the article but you didn't. It's pretty apparent that Joe and the other coaches did everything they could to convince Dan to change his ways. What kind of coach would Joe be and what kind of example would that set to the guys in Joe's gym by showing favouritism to his brother?

Dan also seems to be the one that drug this whole thing into the public to make Joe and his team look bad. I'd say the backstabbing is about equal.

If what Joe says is true then his actions seem reasonable. Yes, family is important but if your brother is habitually slacking off you aren't doing him any favours by cornering him anyway, you're helping him more by taking a stand so he realizes it is important. 5-6 weeks away from a fight is plenty of time to find another corner as well, it isn't like this happened a week before the fight (again, if Joe's version is true, if it isn't things change).

Tough love.
