Sam Hoger vs. Ryoto Machida at UFC 67 Confirmed

Sam Hoger vs. Ryoto Machida at UFC 67

UFC 67 is right around the corner on February 3rd in Las Vegas. A while back, soon after it was announced that Quinton Jackson had signed with the UFC, I brought up the possibility of Sam Hoger being Quinton’s first UFC fight.

This was, of course, before it was announced that Jackson would be fighting Marvin Eastman. Well, now I’ve gotten confirmation that Sam Hoger will be fighting Ryoto Machida at UFC 67. Machida has an 8-0 MMA record, and some critics think that he can be a force in the light heavyweight rankings. Personally, I’ve seen Machida fight a few times, and he has done nothing that spectacular to impress me. He does hold victories over Vernon White, Rich Franklin, Stephan Bonnar, and B.J. Penn. (The victory over Penn was in K-1.)

Goes to show you how they feel about Sam Hoger, just like the rest of us do. "Throw him to this monster, throw him to that one." Maybe Machida can beat him out of the UFC for us finally.

I agree I haven't seen anything amazing from Machida, but his victories do stand out. I watched his WFA fight and he didn't look to spectacular to me, didnt' really even look average. We'll see what he has been working on.

Machida will give another quailty fighter to that division and could help shake things up. But I do agree it all depends on his mental atitude.

Rampage is on the war path, so everyone in the LHW divison look out.

as much as i dont like sam hogar on a personal level, i wouldnt say he isnt a decent fighter. he gave rashad problems. i honsetly thought he won the fight against rashad. he isnt terrible, he just sucks as a person.

Hoger is really touchy feely in that Sausage Tits interview. I mean, wow, was there ever a moment where he was not touching the interviewer? I don't like "Golly, gee" Sam. I want smug Sam. Smug Sam was great. "Aw, shucks, guy" Sam really sucks.

Lyoto vs Hoger will either be quick & fun, or long & boring. I love me song Lyoto, but I don't think he's going to light the world on fire in his UFC debut. I hope I'm wrong.
