I think they are doing it on purpose to make a HUGE surprise. Not many UFC casual fans are expecting Cro Cop to be amazing but when they see him they will be in shock.

they cant talk crocop up because they cant show his fights cause pride owns the rights to em. otherwise there would be alot more coverage for him because they would want to showcase all his knockouts because thats what the average ufc fan wants to see.

In big business it's not a good idea to promote a rival. I relaize that CC is coming into the ufc with a serious reputation, but it's hard to tell that to fans when it's from the biggest competition. It seems to me that the ufc IS going to let Mirko's fighting and prolly Joe Rogan do most of the talking. Now, this whole ufc fans don't know anything about real mma is kinda tired isn't it? Now I know that people run thier mouths about stuff without research and all. But that being said, ufc is the biggest brand of mma in north america(not saying the best), and it's easy to find and kinda polished and easy to digest. I'm not pointing fingers at all, but it would seem to me that helping "noobs" realize what else is out there would make mma fans better in general. Hopefully pride and other organizations will step up there coverage and exposure to north america.

Fighters I enjoy watching:
Fedor
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
Martin Kampman
Jake Shields
Thiago Tavares
Urijah Faber

Joe Rogan NutHugger...and proud of it

the ufc website interviewed cro cop so it says a little bit about him. they asked him what he thought of eddie sanchez and he said he never underestimates an opponent so im guessing that means he thinks sanchez is a piece of shit.

Most people I know that follow MMA are what you would call “casual” fans.
They don’t train in MMA, they have professional careers but love sports and admire REAL athletes and REAL sports.
Everyone knows who Cro Cop is and his style will gain him more fans quicker than Rampage.
Most fight fans like to see someone that can dominate the stand up game and someone that looks like a fighter and not some thug gang banger. Very few fighters can knock you out with a high leg kick (unlike the Hollywood movies) and Cro Cop can deliver them consistently, people love to see this unique ability.

Cro Cop will be one the biggest stars in the UFC his first year. I’ll bet his marketability will earn him plenty of $$$ just as long as he has the right people behind him.

You know, some people think Sanchez is crazy for getting into the Ocatgon with Mirko, but it's really a can't-miss fight for him.
Nobody expects him to win, so even if he just survives for a while he'll gain respect and a higher profile for stepping up and taking on an elite heavyweight.
Sanchez is young and has potential, so losing to Cro Cop at this point isn't going to ruin his career or his chances of being a contender down the line.
Win or lose, people are talking about Eddie Sanchez. How much did you hear about the guy before?

the UFC shouldn't see PRIDE as a rival, but as a buisness oppourtunity to help bring MMA together!! until then, it won't be concidered a sport by anyone who matters!

whiskey, racism, money, grease, twinkie's, guns.....yep lol thats about it

i agree with this... some people seems to think any1 watching mma knows everything about it.. i dont have numbers, but im pretty sure sport bars or bars in general are a big % of the ppv profit the UFC make.. and most people there want action, they dont go on the net to search for who a new fighter is.. After that fight, then u can be sure cro cop will be promoted right. As for rampage, hes just so easy to promote, this guy is a street fighter, and he just likes to slam people.. not to mention hes american.

It's real simple guys. Rampage is an American, and no matter what color or creed you are the American fans will prefer an American fighter everytime. Cro Cop is a big name in MMA circles, as is Rampage, and neither really needs to be ramped up; but the bigger push will be for Rampage. Just look at Silva, the UFC fans either respect or hate him, but very few really love him like most of us loved Franklin.

i.e. what Split said...
