and that's why American fans are ****ing stupid... the Japanese fans respect and cheer for everyone, for the sake of their skill. We have false national pride and we think that cheering for the American is somehow ok, while booing better fighters/champs from other nationalities!!! |

Yes American fans are all stupid, that’s funny! Sorry but your anti Americanism is showing.
I’m not afraid to say that the drunken morons that boo at fights are an embarrassment but the right to actually be an individual is not something to be discouraged (individualism is NOT something that you will find in Japanese culture).
But I digress, American fans want to see a good fighter, someone that is humble but confident, hard working, a few quirks or faults wouldn’t hurt (we like to see that our heroes are humans and not machines).
GSP is very popular here in the States (so is David Loiseau among those that follow the game).
Fedor, Cro Cop, Fujita and Gomi are also popular here in the USA among fans that watch Pride.
Cro Cop will be one of the most popular fighters in the UFC by the end of 2007 guaranteed!
Saying that Americans are stupid or we only cheer for American fighters shows both bias and ignorance. |

I don't think that Rampage is getting all the attention he's getting is because hes American. The big reason is that he's the only person that Chuck hasn't avenged a loss to and they're building up all the hype so when Rampage's title shot comes, it'll be huuuuuuuuuuuuggggee.

I think part of the reason that Rampage is getting so much more attention is that Dana "good to be White" is trying to boost his confidence and ego. He wants the "power-bombing the shit out of Ricardo Arona" Rampage, not the "cowering in the corner and covering up for dear life from relentless knees" Rampage. Maybe Dana thinks that by stroking Rampage's ego he can bring back the animal he was before he got anally raped by Chute Boxe. Matching him up with Eastman is perfect too. Sure Rampage lost to him before, but that was a long time ago. By all rights Quinton should rip Marvin apart avenging his loss, making a good impression on the fans, and getting his confidence back.
As for Cro Cop, he needs no such cuddling. He is coming off winning the OWGP by beating some of the very best in the world. This was a huge achievement and the major championship that Mirko so desperately wanted. Everybody that knows anything about MMA knows Mirko is the second best HW in the world, including Mirko himself. No need to stroke his ego. No need to hype him up. There will be plenty enough nuthugging going on once people see him in action.

Maybe they are not promoting Cro-Cop because he may never even show up. He is after all the same Douchebag that held Pride hostage by threatening to bail on the OWGP if he didn't get more money. Who's to say he is not using the UFC to try to get more cash out of Pride? The MMA World wants to see Cro-Cop/Fedor not Cro-Cop/Sylvia. Anyway, it will be nice to see Tim rip his face off with those jabs.

Crocop isnt well known to alot of UFC fans, esspecially the newer ones, at work ive been telling alot of people about UFC 67 and why i want to see Crocop, and pointing them to youtube and his Aleksander fight, and saying click the links on the side and see his other stuff too, youll be amazed. i think i wrote it down for about 5 people this week alone.
and again its because all his fights are owened by Pride, UFC cant show them. thats why they arent hyping him as much....yet. after his fight, it will be alot of hype.
