Tired of this
I really hate when UFC try to boost they credibility of a fighter or champion by given them old timer after their prime fight. Did any one give credit to matt hughes when he owned Gracie...C'mon the guy is 40 years old is prime was back in 93 and 94.. Same thing for tito and shamrock..Ken in 93-95 was at is prime and Now Tim against couture WTF ... seriously

It makes a fighter more marketable. I didnt even know tito ortiz until he beat shamrock. Then i was like wow a match between tito ortiz v chuck liddell its gonna be awesome.
Just a way to put fighters on the map, if sylvia destory's randy couture ( god forbid) people might actually start liking him, because america likes KO's, and until the 2 past fights sylvia use to KO quite a bit.

I have to help you out a little with this one. Ortiz was top dog the first time he beat Shamrock and did not need a fight with Shamrock to increase his popularity.
This was a bonafide feud...not the "time honored tradition" of (ugh) professional wrestling (Quoth Vincent McMahon) of "putting over" (see Brett Hart/Shawn Micheals, Hulk Hogan/the Ultimate Warrior etc.)a second tier performer.
Lastly, fighters become known by WHO and HOW they consistently fight....by what they were able to do when pushed by an opponent who could test them by negating their strengths and exploiting their weaknesses.
In this sport torches are not "passed" by tradition. They are TAKEN by force. And THIS is how a fighter gains, or (cough cough) loses his standing amongst TRUE MMA fans.

Randy just wants to fight. There are to many contenders at 205 and chuck has dropped him twice. Plus no matter what anyone thinks everyone will watch. Plus randy could pull it off.

Old timer? If ANYone, Randy Couture would be the one to pull it off. And there's a big difference between Royce Gracie/Ken Shamrock's prime and Couture's prime, because his came way later when he was already in his 40's. Shamrock and Gracie should have retired before they turn(ed) 40. Hell, Couture would STILL be the more complete fighter in his 50's compared to Shamrock and Gracie in their prime. It's just not a good comparison. Ridiculous, if you ask me.

i agree, Randy's prime came way later and gracie and shamrock should have already retired. But i am also tired of seeing young fighters fight like matt and tito fight people like ken and royce because you will most likely already know the outcome of the fight. Randy on the other hand is a different story, he could defeat that shitface sylvia.

Actually Matt Hughes and Royce Gracie are about the same age. Royce was only like 6 years older than Matt when they fought. So its wasn't like Hughes was fighting some old guy or something.
