Who had the most potential ?

I have always wondered about some guys at first glance you think they might be the next big thing, but they end up losing a lot of fights because their not in a right mind set or just don't have a will to fight anymore. I think the greatest example of this is Vitor Belfort. Don't get me wrong Vitor is a decent fighter, but you would think with his quick hands and knees he could be so much better.

Pedro Rizzo.

Power, technique, and precision. The biggest problem was his mindset. This was a guy who didn't think he was good enough to fight, and saw a sports psychologist because of it. He really should've been so much more, but he ended up becoming a Belfort-like disappointment.

Pedro Rizzo is the greatest UFC fighter ever to never hold a title. He is also holds tied with Chuck Liddell for beating the most former or future champions in a single division. He has Mark "The Hammer" Coleman, Dan Severn, Josh Barnett, Andre Arlovski and Ricco Rodriguez.

Chuck Liddell has Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Vitor Belfort, Kevin Randlemen and morilo Bustamante.

Randy Couture is also tied if you count his HW & LHW wins together. He has Vitor Belfort, Morrice Smith, Kevin Randleman, Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.

So he is in very good company.

I know, it's weird. Rizzo shouldn't have dropped off like he did. I'm sure someone will mention Ricco Rodriguez as well, but he dropped off due to being a lazy, fat slob.

Ricco Rodriguz is another good one. He was on fire when he won the HW title from Randy Couiture but fell really really hard after Tim Sylvia knocked him TFO. Its too bad as he was on a very good winning streak until that happened.

Pedro Rizzo was, for a short period of time, the best fighter in the world. UFC's 18-30 he seemed invincible. There was the Randleman loss, but besides that he was just incredible. You kind of saw him lose his will in the Couture fight. He should be a UFC hall-of-famer anyway, but whatever.

Rodriguez, well, he just kind of disappeared. He was on helluva fighter. I guess he's still fighting, but not at the same level.

Tra Telligman was a sleeper who is often labeled a bad fighter because of his win-lose record. But he was a very good striker back when that was rare and he had a good ground game. Its just unfortunate that he never cought a break in the UFC. He never got an easy fight (Pedro Rizzo twice, Vitor Belfort, Tim Sylvia). With those kind of opponents its very hard to break through.

Probably Vitor Belfort, he should have been huge. He had great potential.
