John "The Hurricane" Halverson

For those of you that have looked at the UFC 67 fight card you may have noticed that there is something very weird with the number 2 fight on this card, a fight that will definitely be broadcast.

John "The Hurricane" Halverson does not have an official opponent, almost a week before the fight is set and he is making his UFC debut. It's strange to see a new fighter making their debut that high up on the card and the way the UFC card is looking, you would expect it to be Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic or Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. But it's not, it's John Halverson.

John Halverson's 12-4 record isn't that impressive. His losses aren't to big name UFC or PRIDE veterans. So what makes him special?

First, look at his first 4 career wins. 3 of them are confirmed to be first round and they are all (T)KO wins, which draws alot of attention from organizations like the UFC, especially in the lightweight division.

Second, look at his overall wins record. The breakdown is 6-5-1. 6 (T)KOs. 5 submissions. 1 decision. Simply, this guy can finish fights, and that's something that the UFC is trying to bring more and more of to their league.

Oh, did I mention that all 11 of the fights Halverson has finished have ended in the first round.

Anyway, we'll see what this guy can do, come crunch time, but here's some explanation for why he's on the card.
