Not to be too blunt... But it's a nickname. Just a nickname. If it was copyrighted, then that would be something else. I didn't see anyone give a flying fornication about the fact that Nate Quarry ran around calling himself "The Rock." We all know how he compares to Marciano with that chin of his.

And I don't even wanna' get into some sycophantic tirade about the "legacy" of the name. The name wouldn't mean anything if the fighters weren't worth an iota of mention. Hell, if it was that important I would have to protest as a boxing fan every time I hear one of the waitresses in the restaurant across from my workplace call me "Sugar." I guess if I was a baseball fan I would be offended every time they called me "Babe," but I also know it was also the name of a pig (and I hate baseball anyways).

Jeez... The solemnity it was reffered with in the OP's post sounds like "Sugar" is tha unknown, true name of God being spoken backwards. It is just a nickname.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

Diego beat Diaz & Karo. Both were regarded as top WW's at the time(Hell, Karo still is). I don't think he's overrated at all, and is truly getting better. Diego's legit, and Rashad is molding into a really good fighter.
I do not consider Diaz a contender.

Parisyan is arguably Sanchez's greatest victory. However, if you look at Parisyan's record, all his losses are to true contenders (e.g. Sherk, St. Pierre, and Sanchez) causing me to question his abilities.

I think Sanchez is a great fighter, but I feel that his perfect record causes people to overrate his abilities. But yeah, Evans is more overrated than Sanchez ...

The stand up game is different you can't defend the same due to the difference in gloves. A boxer can take a fairly clean shot to the head with out it dropping him but that can't be said for MMA. But I also think Marcus Davis fights the way he fights because sprawling and stopping ground fighters is much harder than people think. A very good sprawl is a difficult skill to master. But again very good post.
Amazing posts by both of you, bravo.

i think sugar rashad evans sounds retarded IMO but like other people said its just a nickname but some times it kinda pisses me off how every fighter has an unoriginal sometimes stupid nickname that doesnt personally mean anything to them its like they wanted one just for the sake of having one also IMO roy jones in his prime was better than any of the sugars

Insted of looking at his record, why not watch those fights. Karo lost those fights sure, but he wasn't beating. Diaz was a contender at the time.
