Fight Night Rerun Texas Lazy Horse

The Texas Lazy Horse Heath Herring showed why he has 12 loses on his record.
Heath has jerky moves and loves to give his back up. The man claims he can stand up but coming off his last performance Tim Sylvia would knock sparks from the Lazy Horses Ass. Hope to see him gone soon and some legit fighters brought in.

Definitely not his best showing and the UFC did publicize him a little bit too much, but to say that Heath Herring isn't a legit fighter is like saying that Tito Ortiz doesn't have an attitude and Semmy Schilt isn't very tall.

Heath hasn't been as good recently and so no one should have expected him to come out and move well. He fought even worse than I expected him to with his injury, but he'll be back.

Hopefully, when he comes back this will be the Heath Herring that we saw against Mark Kerr and Denis Sobolev, not the Heath Herring we saw on friday night.

I was very disappointed by that fight, but I also cannot judge him based on one fight. I have never seen him fight before, but I did hear an awful lot of hype about him.

^^Try to get a hold of Heath's fights with Tom Erikson & Nogueira(The first fight). Those fights will show you why he was so hyped up.

I hear Guida vs Thomas was a really good fight. It just sucks that they never aired it. Instead we got Heath disappointing everyone. Oh well, such is life.

My main disappointment was his whining after the fight about O'Brien. Heath should have known damn well that if O'Brien had any submission ablity he would have tapped out.

So basically he just wanted O'Brien to stand in front of him. Thats a pretty lame attitude. He should have been thankful that O'Brien couldnt sumbit and he got a few more chances to actually knock him out than he would have otherwise.

I don't think Heath was trying to say what a lot of other people are thinking he said. When he was complaining about it going to the ground and being a wrestling match, I don't think he meant he just wanted the guy to stand in front of him and take a beating. The way I interpreted it was he was pissed because O'Brian would not stand and trade with him. All O'Brian did was stand far enough back for Heath not to reach him and just waited for Heath to come in to close the gap and then take him down, or wait for Heath to overpursue and take him down. He wasn't engaging and that is ****in frustrating to a stand up fighter trust me. There's nothing you can do when the guy keeps backing up and never throws a punch. All you can do is to try and close the gap yourself which leaves you vulnerable to takedowns. Like I said before, O'Brian was lay-n-praying on the ground, and on his feet as well. He wasn't engaging at all on his feet, and I thought that was against the rules in the UFC but maybe not?

This isn't boxing though. Wrestling is a skill, and when you have a young guy like O'Brien(Who is fairly new to MMA), then you have to go with what you know. It's Heath's fault he lost, because instead of sprawling, or sweeping(Hell, even keeping a tight closed guard), he chose to rely on his extra sloppy standup.

Oh yeah I am not making excuses for Heath's loss but even though it is not a boxing match, both fighters (I thought) are supposed to engage. Heath definately should have at least attempted to sprawl, but a lot of his takedowns were a result of Heath rushing in to try and connect cuz O'Brian just kept backing up every time Heath started punching. I mean, if everyone fought like O'Brian, we would have wrestlers for all of our champs. Any wrestler can go undefeated just by not engaging in stand up, and waiting for the other guy to overpursue and take him down and lie on him for 3 rounds. But you never see that happen cuz the fans hate it for one, and the ref is supposed to tell the guy to start engaging or he will lose points.
