I would be able t fight my friend, but guys shouldn't have to fight guys from the same gym.

Thats BS, fighters move from gym to gym a lot to get better training vs certain fighters. I don't care who your gym partner is, did boxers avoid fights because they sparred with someone before? Hell no.

Once there is a true ranking system in the MMA then there is no ducking fights b/c you have to fight who is the #1 contender or reliquinsh your title

Sell and Smith did what fighters should be doing. Honestly, I don't give a sh*t if two fighters are friends, they should be willing to step in against each other and make a pay check.

This is a job, not a hobby. If you want a hobby, rebuild a f*cking car.

i couldn't agree more. and until i guess you get individual promoters in the sport to promote their fighters and more money for winner rather then loser and stuff like that will it get nasty

I agree, friendship shouldn't mean sh*t in MMA. There should be a penalty if a fighter rejects a fight with a 'friend' like suspension or charges or if they are Champion then stripping of their Title.

you can be friends outside the ring last i checked. its cool if you're friends before the fight. then you fight, and when its all over...you can be friends again. mma is a sport and you should respect your opponent no matter what. so losing or winning shouldnt affect a friendship whatsoever

They should just have them fight each other at every event. Whenever the crowd starts to boo, out come Sell and Smith, ready to swing.
Sweet idea!
