UFC needs more Bad Blood

I'm tired of hearing how certain fighters in the UFC won't fight someone b/c they are their great friend outside the octagon so they would never step in it and fight them even though they are in the same weight class.

Bad blood makes for more excitement before and during the fight, not the small trash-talking that goes on right before the fight and then being best friends against afterwards.

I understand they all have to appreciate each other and the athelets they are, but you don't have to like the people you work with and are involved with and going to fight. I guess b/c of all the training camps people have where you become work otu buddies with someone and close it kinda ruins it a bit more in the UFC as far as hate.

Pride gives me feeling of more bad blood between fighters, maybe it may even be wrong b/c you get more fighters who are japenese or non-english speaking and there always is a general dis-like for someone that is not just like how you are in the world, which makes for good entertainment

that's what happens with a sport as advanced and difficult as MMA...you get fighters that are both smart and mature. Consequently, they have nothing but respect for their peers.

I completely agree. After all, Scott Smith and Pete Sell were great friends - and look at the killer KO in that fight. Those guys didn't hold back.

Have there been a lot of matches stymied by buddies unwilling to fight? If I was fighting a friend in MMA, you can bet I'd be throwing as hard as I could. To do anything less would be disrespectful to the abilities of your friend.

dana white mentioned rashad evans fighting kieth jardine in the evans' post fight press conference and evans said he absolutely will not fight him because he trains with him and is too good of friends with the guy. it was actually a really awkward moment with him and dana

Just bring back Baroni. Every one hates on him for his sick nasty, gorgeous body. And also bring in Tank because he just hates people, period. Thats what i like about boxing, more beefs which builds excitement of the fight, and slimeball fight promoters always stir up shit. Just like when you were back in highschool, was it more fun to watch two buddies box each other at a fightclub or two guys that ****in hated each other. MMA fighters need to tlk more shit. Lets get some chute boxe, hammer house action up in this *****. I want MIrko to tell Sylvia thats he's a loser with a skinny weiner. I want some Mayorga, De La Hoya action. Some Tyson/ Lewis. I want Rampage to tell chuck this: I'm gonna rip your heart out, I'm the best eva, the most brutal, the most vicious and ruthless champion there's eva been. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable and I'm just ferocious, I want your heart, I want to eat your children, praise be to allah!

don't give these guys too much credit. . have you watched any of the series ultimate fighter? smart and mature can be somewhat of an overstatement.

Also in any professional sport there is going to respect for your fellow athlete b/c it takes a ton of ability to do what your doing and thats just not in the MMA. I just think right now there is too much "respect" as we call it for peers b/c of trying to promote UFC to the next level rather then get down and dirty.

Its like lidell said he would never fight rich franklin b/c they are such good friends. I'm sorry if your noth fighters and thats what the match-up is of the #1 and #2 contender then you don't have a choice, lets get it on or you lose your belt.

There was a reason why the Tito Ortiz vs Ken Shamrock 2 ppv about 2 months ago had the most viewers ever still to date for the UFC. B/c those guys really disliked each other and were on like espn talking about how much they couldn't stand each other

I'm pretty sure that was Matt Hughes who said that and not Chuck Liddell.

Anyways, Bad Blood is more of a marketing tool then it is a determining factor for an exciting fight. Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock 2 was suppose to be this monster of a fight. Those two hated each other with a passion and yet after it was all said and done Tito decimated him in 90 seconds. The same goes with Evan Tanner vs. Phil Baroni. Baroni was PO'ed that he lost that first match with Tanner. He was complaining up and down that the ref did this wrong and that wrong. He was suppose to take that angry out on Tanner in thier second fight and instead his performance was lackluster.

Fighters refusing to compete against someone who they're friends with is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Any fighter that makes a statement like that should be laughed at and kicked out of competition.

You're supposed to be professional athletes for crying out loud...try acting like it.

no it was chuck liddell when asked before the Franklin vs Silvia fight if he would drop down and fight Franklin to have 2 titles in two different weight classes, and Chuck said he would never fight his friend no matter what the circumstances are.

Its things like this that piss me off about the UFC and MMA in general, if you have a chance to have more then 1 belt which i think only 1 person has ever done before, DO IT.

And even though the tito ortiz shamrock fight was a quick KO, it was more entertaining then any of the other fights out there, just imagine if GSP and Matt Hughes we're talking some serious ISH b4 the fight.

Just being a competitive person you know that if someone talks smack, it makes you want to get at them that much harder
