PRIDE could very well to the same with Fedor, or even Hunt, but I think for now they are satisfied having one fighter in the UFC, especially that its CroCop, because he really epitomizes what the PRIDE heavyweights are about that the UFC heavyweights aren't. Mutual respect and putting on a show.
Dont get me wrong i love Pride but if i were you i wouldnt delude myself with any of that conspiratorial nonsense about Trojan Horses.
The simple fact is that the UFC has made massive strides forward in the last 5 years whereas Pride has only marginally relatively speaking.
The UFC has PRIDE beat handsdown in the marketing and promotion stakes, this leads to greater mainstream recognition which in turn leads to greater revenues and enhanced public recognition for the fighters (dont underestimate the power of popularity). Since even now the UFC can at least match PRIDE salaries - and in the case of elite fighters beat, imagine if things continue what the situation will be like in another 5 years??
The quality of UFC fighters across the board is improving by the day and in reality the only division where PRIDE hold an advantage is in the HWs, apart from that the 2 orgs are on about par with each other.
In 2007 the UFC will make big in roads into Europe, where there is enormous untapped talent - and the simple fact is that in the world of sports and big business, N.America and Europe is where its all at.
At the end of the day money may not be enough to attract Fedor but for 90% of the worlds fighters it is!!! Pride cannot live on Fedor alone....
