:Spoiler:

Kudos to Bisping, his boxing and striking was crisp like usual. Sexyama was a warrior like always but fell short. I hope they don't cut him either :(.

He won't get cut. He's had 3 fights in the UFC, 2 of which were named FotN and this last one very easily could be. Not sure if they released the awards yet, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see it.

To the UFC, entertainment tends to outweigh fighting skills unless they're just horrid. Why do you think guys like Leben (he's doing good now), Davis, Lytle and Bonnar have stuck around? Every time they come out they put on killer shows. They may never be anywhere near a title shot, but they have potential FotN fights every time. I don't think Sexyama is going anywhere for a long, long time.

his days are numbered him and his tupid japanese corner, if he had any brains he would have team jackson in his corner, i bet he didnt listen to a word greg said to him

He has 0% chance of being cut, Dana white loves the guy. He has had 3 fights in the ufc, all 3 of the fights have been fotn and the one against leben is one of the best fights i have ever seen. Dana and Joe silva say they love fighters who come to fight and the fact that this guy has made close to $200,000 in bonuses alone in his first 3 ufc fights is just an example of that. I think he should drop down to 170 now, it should help his cardio.

guy incognito,

As someone who is bisexual I am actually pretty offended about your condescending remark. You do realize that alot of guys in gay bars could probobly kick your ass? Just wait 10 or 11 years before you can enter a bar, and you'll see.

As far as Akiyama goes, he EASILY had/has the tools to beat Bisping but refuses to utilize them. I don't know if anyone has seen the picture of him standing next to Okami and Gomi, but Akiyama is the smallest guy in that picture. He desperately needs to drop to welterweight and seriously work on his conditioning.

since joining the UFC he is 3 out of 3 FOTN performances, looked really good against Leben, in fact Bisping is the only person ever to really own him like that, so I think its a little unfair to Bisping to be writing it off as a really bad performance by Akiyama, but then I bet Akiyama never met anyone who moves like Bisping before so it was possibility a Skill Set he just could not handle, sure the loss must be a major set back from getting anywhere near been considered a top contender but I doubt very much that he is in the fire of been cut just yet.

I would like to see him fight Patrick Cote or Dan Miller next, Palhares is a possibility but I think that would just be cruel dam I would hate to see that happen to him he dont deserve that he seems way to nice a guy to be the unfortunate sucker to fight Palhares next, but when I really think about it, he person I would really love to see him fight next is Wanderlei Silva dam that would be like hot favourite for FOTN again.

Props to Akiyama. He puts on a good fight, as seen by his FOTN bonuses. I almost feared that it'd be a snooze fest from joining Greg Jackson's Gym, and Akiyama would use his Judo background to takedown Bisping and just lay on top of him all night. But to be fair, he didn't, he engaged in a stand up battle with Bisping, which fared to be a good fight. His chin, is one of the best I've seen on a fighter, the amount of punches he took and just walked through amazed me, which he also shown in the Leben fight. He can start using his Judo background more if he wants to be successful in the UFC, if you've got weapons like that in you're arsenal, use them.

On regards of him being cut, it won't happen until he starts putting in stalemates and losing. He's an exciting fighter, and Dana acknowledges this. Plus, he appeals to the Asian sector, and so is the poster boy for Asian MMA in the UFC. As long as he keeps putting on exciting fights, you can be sure he'll be in the UFC for while to come.

If his next fight is a snooze-fest and he loses, I could see him getting cut - but if it's just as exciting or a close decision then he might still stay.
I love him and all but he really needs to work on a counter-attack...he doesn't really have any. I joined the MMA hype relatively recently and have been a fan of Akiyama ever since I saw him at UFC 100 against Belcher - and thought he won that fight despite what Joe Rogan said.

Realistically, I'd LOVE to see him fight Mark Munoz next, those I have a feeling Munoz might take that fight too..

Like some others have said, his only problem is that he TRIES too hard to make fights exciting rather than actually trying to win.

I think he'd rather try to KO someone than grapple+submit.

The guy is willing to take 2 punches to land 1 punch. Thats not a good recipe for success, however it does usually lead to exciting fights, especially since Akiyama seems to have a chin of granite.

I love watching him fight, but I get angry knowing he has GREAT Judo and a decent submission game, but refuses to use it. Part of me respects him a little for it, but part of me is going "wtf dude just throw him down and submit him already!"

I'll support him in the UFC and anywhere else he fights. Dude is a true "warrior"

yep i'd be issed if Lombard never used his great judo but he does, mma is not all about striking, striking is 50% of what it is so you need to use both games, had he not banged with leben and bisping he would be on a 3 fight win streak
