Impressed with Condit

They both threw hooks and Condit connected a split-second faster. Hardy will be back knocking out lower/middle tier opposition in the near future, but the future for Condit looks pretty exciting. 4 or 5 exciting fights in WEC followed by a 3-1 UFC stint. (Some argue he beat Kampmann but when a scrap is that close it's hard to tell.)

I think everyone would be down for a Kampmann rematch, but I can't shake the feeling that a fight with Fitch or even a Shield's rematch would look something similar to GSP vs Hardy or Fitch vs Alves, an exciting quality striker fighting off his back for 15 mins. We can take solace in the fact that Condit has a half decent ground game but it would seem Condit is destined for a boring fight unless he faces Kampmann again while Fitch possibly gets a title shot.

I was very impressed with Condit, and I agree with you all most 100%. I say all most because I would describe Condits ground game as way better than just decent. A point I only bring up because I think that a fight with Condit is dangerous for anyone no matter where it takes place.

He only had a two inch reach advantage last night yet was able to pretty much shut Hardy down with it. It was a very impressive display of stand up skills.

I see his next fight being against Fitch. The winner of Sheilds/Kampman will most likely get a title shot. And given recent performances, with Koscheck getting a shot in december, it's hard not to consider Condit/Fitch/Kampman the number 3, 4, and 5 guys.

I also think his next fight will be Fitch, but I guess there is a chance of it being the loser of Kampmann - Shields while the winner of that fight gets a title shot.

When i wrote Condit has a half decent ground game I had Thiago Alves in my head. BJJ black belt shut down by GSP and Fitch. I should give Condit more credit but I don't think there is any fighter in the Welterweight division that can do anything of note off his back against a Fitch or GSP other than Almeida or at a stretch Serra (who is far better offensive BJJ from top position).

i wasnt impressed with condit because i knew he would win this decisively, not to say it was a bad performance but i saw this coming so im not in awe that he actually won and won by ko

When two sluggers go in there and fire from the hip like Condit and Hardy I don't see how you could be 100% assured of a Condit victory...props for calling it though.

How could you not be impressed by that Carlos Condit performance? No-one had ever hurt Dan Hardy with a punch until that left hook from Condit. Swick was hitting Hardy with decent shots, and Dan was just laughing at him, but that left hook was thrown with bad intentions and landed on the button. Great fight, and an excellent performance from Condit. Sucks that it had to be Dan he knocked out, but man, he was impressive.

I've always been a Condit fan.. TBH I still think he got robbed against Kampmann.

condit and his well rounded attack was displayed troughout that fight. condit is one of those guys that just goes in and fights, you can't take him lightly anywhere. i thought he would ud the win because i thought hardy's chin would hold up better but still like hardy and hope he can come back.

cant wait to see whats next for condit, and people say gsp has run through the ww division.....

i think fitch vs condit wouuld be likely and then shields/kampann vs gsp kosheck, winner of fitch/condit vs the latters, i wouldnt mind seeing condit vs gsp or shields/kampann vs gsp, thats right im already writing kosheck off

I don't want to see Shields VS Condit right now. Shields already has a victory over Condit.

If he gets past Kampmann he'll hold victories over Condit/Kampmann/Pyle in the UFCs WW all three are on winning streaks right now.

If he doesn't fight GSP I think the only WW fight that would make sense for him is Fitch given Shields record and world ranking.

How can you NOT love a guy with over 30 fights where like only 3 of them has gone to a decision? Condit comes to finish the fights, and he can do it on ground or standing, extremely exciting guy to watch.

Personally I wanna see Condit vs. Alves or winner of Penn/Hughes next. No offense to John Howard (Alves' opponent at 124), but Condit vs. Alves would both make more sense AND be way more exciting match. 2 versatile guys with good ground game but most importantly great striking, it would very likely be an exciting stand up war with couple takedowns here and there.

I love his personality and like u said he's only 26... And guys like him don't train 8 hours a day, or has any 2 month "Camps" he lives in the gym and trains all hours.

Love watching guys like him

I was very impressed. To go from a fantastic come from behind finish at UFC 115, to a devestating knockout of the previous title challenger, no doubt Condit is on a roll at the moment. The idea of a Fitch fight worries me, because everyone should worry about what Fitch could make that fight. I don't however think Fitch has fought someone who throws so much off of their back, and that adds a bit of intrigue for me personally. Seems like the most logical next step.

to be fair, stand up wise for 4 mins I thought Hardy and Condit where pretty dam even, ether one could of captured the KO in that fight, it was obvious if you watched the entire and then turn off 2 seconds before the end and miss the KO that both fighters had supreme stand up, I was however impressed that Condit's stand up was as good as Hardy's but to be fair that does arguably make the better all round MMA fighter because I think its safe to say he does have the superior ground game of the 2, but still I think he would not be able to do a lot with GSP on top of him, I think Fitch and Shields would mall him too..

I think Fitch may have just found his next opponent.

I too thought that the standup between Condit and Hardy was just about even before the knockout, maybe a slight edge to Condit. Hardy may have been grossly overrated, but there is no denying the dude is as tough as nails. A guy who can take full shots from Mike Swick and giggle is a tough bastard. That just kind of shows a testament for Condit's power and timing. Still, Condit is a bit of an anomaly. Getting mauled by Jake Ellenberger and then getting a close decision, being outclassed by Rory McDonald until a brutal finish, you never really know if he is a safe bet, although he always brings it, and is clearly talented.

I'd like to see a Kampmann vs. Condit II

I wasnt to shocked or overly impressed by Condits win. Dan Hardy is a good fighter, but he was extremely overrated while Condit has been one of the most underrated dudes in the UFC since he got there. Hardy is not the world class KO artist that the UFC has tried to hype him into being. He holds wins over some mid level fighters in the UFC, not any of the top WW's.

I think Condit is okay , Hardy is a little bit overrated but still impressed that he was able to get the KO over him.

I think Carlos has bad game planning however , he fights at Greg Jackson camp so its surprising however Akiyama had a awful plan aswell. Why would you stand and bang with a guy who's only way of winning is to stand and bang ? if this one hit the floor it would be a comfortable win for Condit , so props for the win but i think against a more crisp striker Carlos would be put away.

Condit knocked Hardy out, how was standing with Hardy a bad gameplan? In another thread I said Hardy had the power advantage but Condit was a much more diverse striker and that would lead him to win the standup. I really didn't think Condit would knock Hardy out cold but I was expecting exactly what we saw in the first round until the knockout. Hardy was throwing 1-2s, the odd body kick and counter hooks while Condit was throwing all kinds of kicks and combos. The guy is a beast, he throws everything with bad intentions and never stops unless you knock him out which has yet to happen. He made me a fan against Kampmann (which was also the first time I saw him fight) and he just keeps improving. A while back he was considered the #3 WW and I think he still has what it takes to regain that spot. Right now the only guy that I think would beat him for sure is GSP.

Now let's get Shields/Kampmann started so the winner can fight GSP and Condit can rematch whoever loses.

Also take in to perspective, that though he may have 30+ MMA fights. He's really frickin young, when he started - 18 y.o. A fearless, always entertaining brawler. Now 26 and now training with elite trainers, nutritionist, sparring partners.

So he has upside, upsize to become an elite athlete, develop wrestling defense (for the WW division is a must) and become a better fighter. He's one of the guys I would like to see take time off, like 6 months, and just totally train on new skills and take his athletic ability up a notch.

That said, that Hardy fight puts him in the top 5 UFC WW IMO, Fitch (if he's still a WW) should be next for both of them.
