I think this is pretty sweet. Good idea getting someone roughly Brock's size to train with. I think this could make a significant difference.

Lashley is not even close to the size of Lesnar nor is he anywhere near as good a wrestler. Lashley is slow imobile and weighs like 240. Lesnar is quick agile and about 280. Horrible guy to be a stand in IMO.

im a huge Lesnar fan and agree Lashley is a terrible stand in but im pretty sure Lashley weighs a solid 250-255 which is much larger than the 240 u stated

Okay, so I didn't do all my research. I just remember Lashley LOOKS huge and is doing pretty well so far in MMA. I haven't followed him very closely. I just saw him beat Bob Sapp and choke out some other guy who was talking trash before the fight and decided he was pretty good. I mean I knew Brock has been a lot more successful, but I figured Bobby would at least make a decent stand in. My mistake. Yeesh.
dont sweat it bud Lashley does have certain qualities that im sure provide some use to Cain its just hes really not on Brocks level. he is pretty big and he does have an explosive double leg so thats something but Brock is quicker and seems to have better reflexes while being even larger than Lashley.

and im sorry for the double post

Yes, but a far far superior div 1 wrestler than Cain at Arizona State.

If Brock has been training like he was pre-Carwin - that is a tougher circuit than GSP does. If it's the same Brock - this is still an in shape agile beast. As far as upside, hey they're both relative newbies - only upside in the MMA game.

I think it's because Lashley wrestled at the 168lb weight class in college, while Brock Wrestled at 285. Also Brock has a wider frame.

Lashley blew up while Brock might seems to have actually dropped weight since college.

Although I think the more important point is Lashley has never wrestled competitively at heavyweight.

Why does Cain get all this praise? I mean, he's faced ONE person worthy of it, the rest were can's. Lesnar hasn't fought a Can Yet.

I want to know who is going to be the next big thing after Brock DESTROYS Cain in UFC 121.

No matter who Brock Beats, so many people here can't give him the respect he EARNS. Shame on you people.:confused03:

Well technically Brock did fight a can in his first match but if you are talking UFC matches then no he hasn't faced a can. Second, Cain has been praised a little too much but there is the possibility that he can beat Cain believe it or not. Lastly, next in line after Cain is JDS who also poses a threat against Brock believe it or not!:praise01:

I tire of this talk of Div1, Div2, gold belt, Amazonian Grocko, whatever, wrestling backgrounds. Because Brocks "qualifications" from 10 years ago make him a better MMA wrestler than Cain, today? Really? How many of our champions apart from Brock had Div1 gold belts? If this was true, the UFC would be full of div1 wrestlers, all kicking everybody elses arse. Hell, even GSP didn't even bother with it when he was young. Too busy having fun learning kung-fu and shit, to bother rolling around on the floor with some bloke. Didnt stop him becoming an awesome wrestler... and a far better MMA wrestler than many of his peers with full div1 backgrounds.

The above was written whilst my ridiculous knob was turned up to 11.... or ;) for the uneducated.

Having any kind of credentials is saying something, whether it was last week or 10 years ago. When talking about a martial art, no one questions a Black Belt regardless of when it was achieved, so why question a wrestlers merit?

Fighter with amateur wrestling backgrounds have historically done very well in MMA. Of course those who have been able to really pick up other forms of martial arts to compliment the wrestling background go on to be champions.

Being a division 1 wrestler is a big deal for anyone not only for the accomplishment, but also it sets the tone for one's work ethic years down the road. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of one former division 1 wrestler in MMA who's work ethic mental toughness and heart has been questioned.

If you speak to any MMA athlete they always say those 3 things are the majority of the fight game.

I think that it was Nick Thompson who said that he thinks Lashley is a better wrestler than Lesnar. I wonder if he actually believed that when he said it, haha. Even Lesnar haters can admit that Lesnar is a way better wrestler.
