Kongo is 8-4-1 in the UFC. Recently he was dominated and finished by Mir and dominated by Cain. He doesn't really have that notable of wins in the UFC honestly. He has had 13 fights in the UFC to prove he's something other than an average, hard-hitting striker that constantly is using illegal blows and grabbing the fence. So far he hasn't done that. What is the point of having impressive ground and pound if you won't learn to take people down?

His record I agree isn't enough to cut him, but when you add in the other factors I just don't see why they'd keep him around other than maybe to feed him to a good up-and-comer with solid wrestling. He is a dirty average fighter at best and I think the UFC can do better. Drop him and get Werdum back.

The thing with Gonzaga is that he has the tools to be great but just doesnt use them, while Kongo has striking and subpar everything else.

If Gonzaga got on top of you, you are in deep trouble!

Kongo even looked bad striking against his latest opponent...forgot his name.

Good cut.
I <3 Gabe when he brings the action, but for a jitsu world champion he has really fought like crap on bunch of his recent fights. Barely any takedown attemps and pretending he is a world class striker just because he hits and kicks (hi Mirko!) hard turned out to be his downfall.
Gabe had the skills and physique to be a champion in ufc, but his lack of smart gameplans ruined it for him.
