Maybe Jose will move up to LW finally and his hype will die down after people finally realize the amazing gap in skill level between LW and FW.

Other than that, not such a huge deal to me.
Wouldn't you agree it is a good thing to have a bigger roster and subsequently more high level fighters on PPVs? The UFC are doing so many events they need more fighters, and with new divisions there can be mor cards stacked with important fights.

good idea.

also the ufc has a new cash cow in jose aldo

he has the potential to be a big draw with the masses, he's like the 145 anderson silva without being a prick.

I can watch those same stacked fights on WEC, there's no difference.

I was watching all of them fight in WEC, now I get to watch all of them fight in the UFC. Different promotion, same exact fights and fighters. The UFC can only put on so many fights per event, they have a very limited time slot. This means, in order to give all their fighters fights, they will need to add more UFC events, and that means you need to pay even more money to watch fights, but you will still have to watch the middle of the road fights. Not all the fights are going to be big fights, just more PPV's you have to buy, which isn't much different from what it was when they were in WEC.

I`ll be honest i love wec shows, every fight is entertaining, they just lack the star power. Sometimes i prefer watching wec over the ufc.

There are only so many PPV's you can expect fans to purchase every year and I think the UFC understands this.

My hope is with the announcement of the 'UFC channel' the PPV events are going to have an overall higher quality of fights accross the now 7 divisions and undercard stuff will be available more frequently on events like Fight Night.

I really think the merger is only going to be good for the fans.

This is great for fans outside of the US as we dont get a chance to see the WEC cards without going on line.

Should be great, glad they acknowledged that lack of big fight cards. BW and FW would fill that gap. Faber, Cruz, Benevidez, Brown and Aldo are all dominant fighters.

But bobble doll brawls fights aren't as great with the smaller guys, compared to similar fights by guys like Bonnar or Leben.

Also, demographically speaking, lot more Asian fighters.

I sure hope this merger will get rid of the dull UFC cards we've been getting recently.
I wouldn´t be surprised if that factor was a major part in this decision!

McCall, Faber, Aldo, Nate, Nick, Lyoto, TBD, Hunt
Forever hanging in Anderson Silva nuts

I would regard my self as a casual fan and whilst I don't really oppose the merger I think that if they introduce too many divisions the casual fans might get confused as to who is in what ect. Also having a few bigger name fighters rather than them comming in from all over is better for people to get into the sport. If it were to be done a little slower however to give the less hardcore fans time to adjust that would be a good idea.
