It's too bad the flyweight tournament had a technicality that caused a hiccup. Hopefully the rest of the tournament doesn't experience any technical difficulties.

Exactly. You and I are not casual fans and we understand that. But the casual fans do not. They see little Pip Squeeks that they could squash with no problem.

So in terms of popularity with the casual fans, I think the lighter weight classes have much more of an up hill battle than heavier weight classes.
But as the casual fan gets more and more educated, hopefully they will gain an appreciation for the lighter guys.

Well Mayweather and Pacman aren't the biggest dudes in the world and they seem quite popular?

(Manny is currently at war with homosexuals though, so not everybody likes him ATM)

If anyone has watched fights such as Mcall/Johnson and the more recent Zombie Porier and still dislikes the smaller divisions, then something is not right!

but ive seen some posts where those divisions arent getting the credit they deserve...some dont want to watch them, some dont think its deep enough...trust me...its very deep

BW and FW are actually the easiest divisions to be competitive since its not hard to find ppl that size, well actually LW would be the easiest IMO but still, its much easier to fight great FWs and BWs than HWs

these guys almost never gass and its not marketing or hype when you hear that they go all out nonstop

so for those of you not really that excited...give them a chance...if you really do, im 99% sure you will fall in love with the divisions! and hope to see flyweight soon...

but i digress...so...who actually enjoys the smaller guys??
I appreciate their skill, but the lighter weights don't do it for me. I think it's because they're not "the best" - they're just the best for their size...kind of like an under 6' basketball league or an under 200lb football league.

Agree w/ you - check out Roger 150lb Roger Huerta's street fight against Rashad Bobino - a 230lb starting linebacker from U of Texas' National Championship team - Huerta made short work of him.

In addition it was to defend a woman's honor. Hats off to Roger for that. Though he probably walks about 170 pounds.
