who actually enjoys the lighter divisions?

with the UFC and WEC merge i thought the reaction would be...idk..happier...all around, now i realize that im in a mma forum so im guessing 95% of our members either enjoy or have at least watched BW and FW fights right?

but ive seen some posts where those divisions arent getting the credit they deserve...some dont want to watch them, some dont think its deep enough...trust me...its very deep

BW and FW are actually the easiest divisions to be competitive since its not hard to find ppl that size, well actually LW would be the easiest IMO but still, its much easier to fight great FWs and BWs than HWs

these guys almost never gass and its not marketing or hype when you hear that they go all out nonstop

so for those of you not really that excited...give them a chance...if you really do, im 99% sure you will fall in love with the divisions! and hope to see flyweight soon...

but i digress...so...who actually enjoys the smaller guys??

I really like the smaller divisions, it's nice to see fights where cardio won't be a factor in the outcome.

I enjoy WEC's BW and FW divisions a lot more than any other UFC division. The FotN bonuses will be owned by the WEC fighters from now on.

I'm not that excited, mainly because.. well, I could watch the same fighters fight at FW and BW in WEC. The merger doesn't really mean anything to me, same fights, just different promotion.

Maybe Jose will move up to LW finally and his hype will die down after people finally realize the amazing gap in skill level between LW and FW.

Other than that, not such a huge deal to me.

I think thread starter is imagining the lack of support.

I honestly did not watch the WEC before because I always considered it a second rate division as long as there was a UFC weightclass in there. However, watching Bellator FC had taught me that even lighterweight guys can be exciting. That being said I'm looking forward to this!

What I like about this merger is that I think it will lead to more cuts of mediocre fighters. FW and BW will help fill what would be holes in weaker cards and provide the odd main/co-main events which usually need to be title fights or top contender matchups to make an event seem worthy.

I don't think those divisions are that stacked right now but they will grow now that they are in the UFC.

who actually enjoys the lighter divisions? Reply to Thread

but it really doesnt change much for me. sure the lighter classes will be more exposed to typical ufc fans, which will make them more money. but ill be watching them just the same as i always have, wec or ufc.

lighter weightclasses are popular among hardcore fans but not so much with the casual fan. casual fans are usually into the big boys.

To be honest I'm not a fan of this merger. I love the WEC on its own. The small guys really come to fight and you know to expect fireworks.

I sure hope this merger will get rid of the dull UFC cards we've been getting recently.
