The most exciting young fighter in the sport, recently crowned UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo, won't be making his UFC debut to kick off the new year at UFC 125. Heavy's Jeremy Botter reported an injury has sidelined the champ:

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has withdrawn from his UFC 125 co-main event bout with Josh Grispi.

Sources close to the event notified Heavy.com of the news this afternoon.

A compacted vertebrae was causing tingling in Aldo's arms.
My thoughts are with Jose but damn it.

Gutted!

Most of the fellas I watch the UFC with aren't totally into MMA and don't watch anything out with the UFC, and I have been hyping these WEC cats for a while telling them they are in for a real treat when they see guys like Aldo in the UFC.

Gutted :(

Edit: Oh and yeah, get Well Soon Jose, hope it works out, fighters health is top priority after all.

That's the problem. It was an idea, and I'm sure it'll happen at some point, but UFC 125 is only four or five weeks away. Not at all enough time for a proper training camp. And I don't suspect UFC will find two main event caliber fighters willing to fight on such short notice in general, which means we're more likely to see a fight bumped from the prelims to the main card. For the life of me, I don't understand how injuries and illnesses always seem to hit the main event fighters while the prelim homeboys make it to the event unscathed.

no country is big enough for 4 title fights in two events, hell ireland, australia, germany, england have 1 between them all, the only sport thats a goldmine for abu dhabi is 7s rugby, i make it my business to know these things

Not to sound like a gimp , but i wasnt that interested anyway it would have been Aldo destroying another guy on a win streak in an terribly weak division , its an exciting division but the talent pool is extremely weak.

I would much rather see Gomi Vs Guida as the Co main event which is a frikin awesome fight and then Silva vs Vera moved the main card and then 2 prospects replacing that on the prelims.
