Anderson Silva got taken down by Hendo and Chael both whom fought at 205 and subsequently cut down to 185. Not to say he hasn't got taken down by lesser or smaller fighter.
Anderson is a very large MW who will make you pay dearly if you make even one single mistake. GSP doesn't have the KO ability to rock Anderson plus he's 5'10 which puts him in a bit of a disadvantage as far as reach goes. Sure Chael dominated Silva, but look at Chael's face. He obviously took quite a bit of damage himself especially after that elbow.
GSP will have to fight the perfect fight at 100% while Anderson Silva can win it at 50% - 90% strength cuz his striking is just that good not to mention that his ground game is quite under rated.
In order for GSP to win it'll have to be a five round decision or leg lock or submission.
Anderson Silva has many more ways of winning, flash KO, TKO, or submission. Anderson has this uncanny ability to strike with such precision and it seems to daze his opponents even when it doesn't seem like it's a hard punch.
- James Irvin
- Forrest Griffin
- Chris Leben with a front jab that knocked him down twice

Not to mention the fact, that when Chael fought Anderson (Silva injured or not), Chael was a BEAST. He handled two solid guys with ease, two guys I highly doubt GSP would manhandle in such a manner.
Only other times I've seen Silva controlled and put on his back for long periods, was in a ring and when he was a lot younger and thinner.
GSP harder to beat at Welter, but at middle, I would have to go with Anderson.
Think I would be more interested to see Jacare or Lombard in there with Silva. If (and probably once) GSP get's past Shields, then throw him in there with Silva also.

this again...obviously more ppl think GSP would win, every1 loves GSP and every american hates AS...its not rocket science
GSP would probably lose though....his body is too small, hes a better wrestler but hes weaker and has a small build, AS could easily throw up triangles all day long
ou just lock him in a body triangle and rain down elbows if GSP was bigger i would say he would probably beat AS
but his size....its not enough, also i dont think he has a lot of heart...in a 5 round war (wich it would be) i think AS would break him at some point

Maybe the article is biased, but the polls speak for themselves.

Silva was 100% sure what Chael's gameplan was and was unable to prevent about any takedowns.
GSP is a bit smaller and non juiced like Chael, but his grappling is much better than Chaels. No he doesn't have top control and wrestling of Chael's, but he has WAY better submission game both offensively and defensively. I see GSP vs. Silva going much like GSP vs. Penn II did, except Silva's takedown defense and guard game aren't as good as Penn's.

I would love to see this fight at WW. At which I'd see the fight going much like Silva V Okami at 167lbs.

Yes they do. The polls clearly demonstrate that most of the voters are deluded and stupid .

I'll still take Anderson in this fight. I love GSP but he isn't the same as Chael. He's not as big or as strong but to me more importantly is he isn't as ballsy as Chael. Chael Sonnen doesn't give a shit if you hit him, he's the type of guy you can crack a beer bottle over his head and he'll laugh about it, GSP ever since that Serra fight is very cautious about getting rocked again. I don't believe GSP has the attitude of willing to take a big shot to get that takedown, Chael did. It would be a good fight and I give GSP more of a chance than before but I'm not buying this whole any wrestler can tool Anderson shit. Until I see him actually not have his hand raised he's the favorite against anybody.

First of all, AS at WW is damn near impossible and downright dangerous... Silva is a BIG MW and would have a hard time shedding any more weight...
I still see Silva taking this, mostly due to size-difference (Reach, height and so on) and superior striking.
But one thing I'm missing from Silva, bring back those knees that translocated Franklin's nose, those were the greatest thing ever!
BTW, I'm an admitted AS nuthugger and will love him till I die :P
