Another thing I want to point out is I don't think Anderson is too worried about getting taken down. He's been there lots of times and is capable of winning. The flying knees (Carlos Newton, Travis Lutter, Demian Maia) and flying kicks he uses says something about his mindset. Anderson isn't gonna be a Yawn Fitch and try to grind out the win. I don't want to hear about Thales or Demian Maia. A.S. has far too many fights where he's already proven himself. He will finish.
As much I like GSP. He's a true ambassador and future HOF, but I don't think he can truly dominate Silva once he gets him on the ground. A. Silva has one of the most active guards all the while throwing elbows at your face.
I see Anderson taking out GSP in devastating fashion sad to say. Anderson fights like no other once he senses a challenge. Just ask the following:
Sakurai - Shooto Championship belt (domination)
Lee Murray - Cage Rage Championship belt (domination)
Chris Leben - debut fight (KO)
Rich Franklin - UFC MW belt (KO)
LHW - James "The Sandman" Irvin actually got put to sleep (KO)
LHW - Foresst Griffin (KO)
MW defense #7/8 (technically Lutter should have been a title defense) - Chael Sonnen
*Added this fight cuz it's very likely GSP "could" dominate Anderson all five rounds, but get caught. This shows that Anderson does NOT BREAK mentally.
Those were key fights in his career and look what happened. Also it's simple physics. Aldo will have a bit of issue going up to 155lb when facing the likes of Maynard, but it's more so prevalent in the higher division with BJ going up to WW, and so on and so forth. I do believe Anderson is one of the few who won't have any issues going up a weight class. In fact I think he could win the LHW belt. HW that's another story.
After all is said and done this will be the MMA fight of the century. Legend vs Legend.
