I don't know... When MacDonald fought Leben, he would get into the clinch by rushing forward behind a flurry of punches. I think if he comes in swinging versus Silva, he'll get picked apart just like Leben. I don't know why, but I just don't think MacDonald is even in the league of guys like Silva.

with a better stand-up stratgy...J-Mac could hang with Silva. Leben and Silva are waay differnet fighter...and if lutter could go 2 rounds with silva....MacDonald prolly could as well. No way MacDonald would have missed that arm bar.Canadians are tough.

I'll just say I agree with Anton and TREY B. I mean, who cares if he has weak takedown defense. Half the time he was way off balance from throwing a knee or kick anyway. He doesn't need good takedown defense when he just submitted "THE BEST BJJ FIGHTER HE HAS EVER FACED!!@!@!11!"

lol, nice.

Cote still hasn't impressed me. Canadian or not. Fighting with GSP or not. Doesn't make a lick of difference if it's not shown in the ring. I'd like for him to really break out and fight like he wants it 110%

I'm glad someone said that the reason this fight lasted longer than 2 minutes is because it was a ground fight. Heres the thing, I personally believe that take downs are highly overweighed in the judges eyes in the UFC and many MMA orgs. I think a simple takedown alone that is not followed up with some damage or some sub attempts it should not count as much because most of the time, it did not do much damage to your opponent. Lutter did not do much of anything once he took silva down and if you look at the fight, Silva was the busier of the two with sub attempts etc on the bottom...just because you are on top doesnt mean you are winning the fight...but it does in the eyes of the judges and a lot of mma fans. thats just IMO.

Silva did many sub attempts and showed that hes skilled on the ground and shut up all those "weak on the ground" trolls that didnt think a blackbelt in bjj from the nog bros meant anything. Lutter looked like an amateur on the ground in comparison. Silva outclassed him the whole fight...who cares if he got taken down a couple times...no damage was done to him minus the 3 or 4 hits in the mount that ultimatly got reversed on him because he wasnt careful to keep himself grounded...

Silva will be champ for a long time. Simple. Rich will loose again...Rich does not have the skill to take out Silva...even on a bad night for Anderson. Rich cant hang with him standing, in the clinch, or on the ground...

I thought he looked good. He could have put on a better performance but he pulled it out.

Good post, I agree. Lutter blows. I also disagree with the takedown points. If they don't do anything afterwards then why should it count? This isn't a wrestling match. They don't give points for higher strike thrown/landed ratios so why should they give points for a takedown?
