I was gonna go to the sports bar to watch this but I had to study. I don't remember exactly the names of the guys picking Lutter to win, but it seemed the general line of thought was that Silva would be out of his world on the ground with Lutter.

I am suprised to see what's being said by some people. So I'd like to know bro.....what REALLY happened in this fight?

Heres the thing, I personally believe that take downs are highly overweighed in the judges eyes in the UFC and many MMA orgs. I think a simple takedown alone that is not followed up with some damage or some sub attempts it should not count as much because most of the time, it did not do much damage to your opponent. Lutter did not do much of anything once he took silva down and if you look at the fight, Silva was the busier of the two with sub attempts etc on the bottom...just because you are on top doesnt mean you are winning the fight...but it does in the eyes of the judges and a lot of mma fans. thats just IMO.

Silva did many sub attempts and showed that hes skilled on the ground and shut up all those "weak on the ground" trolls that didnt think a blackbelt in bjj from the nog bros meant anything. Lutter looked like an amateur on the ground in comparison. Silva outclassed him the whole fight...who cares if he got taken down a couple times...no damage was done to him minus the 3 or 4 hits in the mount that ultimatly got reversed on him because he wasnt careful to keep himself grounded...

Silva will be champ for a long time. Simple. Rich will loose again...Rich does not have the skill to take out Silva...even on a bad night for Anderson. Rich cant hang with him standing, in the clinch, or on the ground...

I was one of the ones saying (if anyone listened) that Silva may have not been as good as Lutter on the ground, but that he is more well rounded than Lutter, and good at DEFENDING on the ground.

Some of these post fight comments are ridiculous, venom filled and have no basis in logical fight analysis to begin with. Hatered blinds.

yes he has bad takedown offense

fear is only an obstacle, you can either beat it or succumb to it

He was trying to hold Lutters shoulders so he couldnt hit with as much power. And Lutter's tired, fat, dehydated ass got bucked off. It wouldnt have happened to most other fighters. Do you realize who is in the middleweight division?

Everyone can say what they want. I think Lutter did a good job in there against a guy who might be the best striker in the UFC. I also think this fight is going to make Lutter a much better fighter. I think we might see him up his game to a new lever. The guy fought the best he could with his skills. I dont see how you can knock him for that.

I think Rich can and will beat Silva in the rematch since he wasn't expecting Silva to come at him like that, anyway Silva DOES have good takedown defence since he avoided multiple takedowns in the fight with Lutter.

I also read on the forum somewhere else that Silva had knee surgery only 11 weeks ago and he was not at 100 percent for the fight (props to Silva for not mentioning that or using it as an excuse or anything).

That is why he could not use his legs as quickly for take down defense, and why he couldnt finish lutter faster with that triangle. Silva didn't want to blow out his legs.
