He's not that stupid and he is a fairly good wrestler himself Id love to see him slam Toney back in the day but now its a hard sell for me to even be passively interested in watching a top ten MMA fighter destroy a aging Toney.

I still feel that "if" Toney could keep a fight standing he would give most MMA fighters fits and he has the ability to KO anyone with MMA gloves but he has a lot of issues, the time it takes to train MMA versus the time he has left to compete.

The odds are he took something away from the fight with Randy but what and how much IDK I dont keep up with him.

Without some TDD and some grappling he's not going to beat anyone because once he gets dumped on his head he's basically unable to defend himself.

I know that you know rampage would never make it out of the first round with Toney if he chose to just straight box.

Rampage hasn't wrestled, gone for a TD or slammed anything since PRIDE. The only thing that makes Rampage an MMA fighter is he knows how to perform a decent TDD and use the clinch, which James actually knows how to. James doesn't know MMA dirty boxing, but he's a dirty ass boxer from the clinch relative to pro boxing.
Have you seen Quinton's fights against Henderson and Machida? He outwrestled Hendo, performed a takedown on Machida, attempted to slam Machida, and I think he may have took down Keith Jardine once or twice too.

Boxing clinching is nothing like MMA, Rampage actually knows about the Muay Thai clinch and knees, elbows, foot stomps, takedowns from the clinch, how to use the fence etc., which some people might scoff at and say 'yeah well Rampage just boxes', but he is well versed in these things and he is primarily a wrestler.

I dont know where people are coming from when they say rampage is even a boxer at all?

Ok well he's a bad boxer then. The dude is a good striker but his style of striking is far from boxing.

I had to smile at this. I'll bet wandy and shogun did too.

You point is right on though. Rampage would murder toney any way he wants to. If he wants a stand up KO all he has to do is throw him around (bitch toss) until he gasses.

If rampage got cocky enough to stand with Toney I dont see any reason to think he could out box him and if I knew that was his plan Id take Toney all day long.

Ha No Rampage is not a Muay Thai master and he has had the clinch used against him brutally, but he has of course trained it and understands it. James Toney however...

This is so sad though because this will get to Rampage and he would take the fight, but he's very relevant at LHW and is a contender. I reckon Dana will knock this on the head quickly though, tell Toney to get lost and keep Rampage in check, he was hesitant to let Toney fight the first time.

Rampage should kill him on the ground, even by his standards. But no way should he stand with Toney.

Toney might take it to the ground though and use his gold belt level grappling.

I think he should, just to debunk this myth. It's still not boxing. After a couple of slams and some leg kicks toney's brain will short circuit and Rampages "boxing" will look good.

It's not like Toney is going to learn any new tricks. After this one Toney would be saying "that sissy kicked me. don't noneof'em wanna stand and throw hands with me".

I agree with the first several posts, no more paycheck hunting for washed up boxers. Thankfully, I think the UFC is done with that. Strikeforce, however, still likes a good freak show.
