Actually I've been calling for this fight. It would be a huge slap in the face for an MMA boxer to outclass a world class pro.
I'm curious to see if Toney can really KO Rampage though. I mean we're talking about a guy who can absorb 17 knees from Wand. He has an unbelievable chin. Worst case he eats a shot he can take him down then it's definitely game over. Quite curious to see how he matches up boxing wise though.
I think it'll make for a great co-main event along with Rashad vs Shogun. Rampage can do it.

If Toney wants another payday I say why not? Rampage wants it anyway. Put in Toney's contract that he only gets $100,000 fee If he wins. If he loses he gets nothing. I do reckon Rampage has his work cut out if he trys to keep it standing though but Toney getting GnP'd the f out would be too sweet for words

Ugh. I'm sick of this boxing hype. Toney has the WORST style boxing for MMA. I think even washed up Diabate would easily outstrike him in the cage and MMA rules. Athletes rule MMA and Toney hasn't been an athlete in years.

Toney wins this based on the fact that rampage is rampage and he will bang with toney. No way I can see rampage taking toney down and avioding standing with him. I want to see this fight because it will be a mma fighter vs a boxer standing up.

So you think Toney would know what to do at all if Rampage clinched with him or pushed Toney up against the cage? He would be a fish out of the water yet again. I will say that Toney could catch Rampage if it was just straight up boxing, but honestly when Rampage says he will stand the whole time, that means something entirely different in the MMA world than it does in the boxing world.

What it means is he'll mess around and get clocked and KTFO if he wants to stand and trade with Toney. I dont think this fight will come around though so bah.

Last call for James Toney

James Toney's 15 minutes in MMA really amounted to 15 seconds -- or approximately how long it took Randy Couture to shoot a low single leg and end any discussion of Toney's value as a mixed martial artist.

If you expected that would convince Toney of the same, you don't know this guy: Toney told FightHype.com he is looking for a fight with Quinton Jackson based on comments Jackson made to "Inside MMA" about standing up with the boxer.
"I will go on record and say he is not dumb enough to stand and trade with me," Toney said. "[Lyoto] Machida almost knocked him out, so what do you think I would do to him?"
The contradiction of Toney's MMA career is that the most interesting fight left for him -- against a striker who would look to use his kickboxing ability and keep the fight standing -- is too pricey for any promotion but the UFC, which may be out of the Toney business. (He received a disclosed $500,000 salary for the Couture fight.) If K-1 stumbles as badly as some expect in the coming year -- a victim of the flatlining Japanese fight scene -- here's hoping it has enough left in the till to give Toney what he's asking for.

It is a possibility but not a certainty. The problem with Toney is that he is a pure boxer. He is not used to the cage, small gloves, being pushed up against a fence, clinch fighting or kicks. These are all going to work into Rampage's advantage.
Not saying Toney would lose, but if Rampage fought smart, he could most definitely win.
