Talk of a blockbuster showdown between Quinton Rampage Jackson and James Toney is growing after Toney told the former UFC light-heavyweight champion to "sign the contract" following a public war of words.

Jackson is one of several MMA fighters mocked by Toney in recent weeks, with the champion boxer claiming Rampage could not even sell out UFC 123 in Detroit.

A response was issued by Jackson on Inside MMA, where he stated: "I want to fight James Toney. He's been talking a lot of crap about me". Jackson went on to promise that he would knock Toney out.

UFC president Dana White had previously stated that he was "done" with what have been dubbed 'freak show' fights, after Toney's lack of wrestling was embarrassingly shown up by Randy Couture on his UFC debut in Boston. However, Jackson is promising to stand with "Lights Out", and Toney is urging Rampage to back up his words with action.

"The only thing that the Fake Mr T has to do is sign the contract," Toney was quoted as saying by FightHype. "Rampage is a decent club fighter but if he thinks his club fighting style can match my skills, then he is crazy as hell."

Jackson beat Lyoto Machida in his last encounter, taking a narrow decision, and he was widely expected to provide the next challenge to champion Mauricio Shogun Rua, if the Brazilian overcomes Rashad Evans. However, with that fight unlikely to happen until at least March, Rampage could be heading for what would surely prove a pay-per-view dream for the UFC.

"Is he mad because I called him an Uncle Tom or because I said Detroit wouldn't accept him?" laughed Toney. "I will go on record and say he is not dumb enough to stand and trade with me.

"Machida almost knocked him out, so what do you think I would do to him? I ain't hard to find; sign the contract."
Is Toney still on the UFC books? I was under the impression he was cut.

Anyhows... I would like to see this fight. Having said that, it would be a waste for Rampage to take it, seeing as hes back on the road towards title considerations.

Still... my ridiculous self would rather enjoy it I think.

God damn posted this in the wrong forum somehow. Can the mods move it over to the UFC?

rampage would Destroy Toney.

He's just after another big payday.

Agreed. Toney is just looking for that paycheck again.

The only thing that scares me is Rampage is not a technical boxer. I would be very nervous if this fight happened and Rampage traded with him the whole fight.

IF rampage fought a smart MMA fight, he would beat Toney as fast as Couture did (or close). IF he tried to stand and bang with him...he could be in a world of trouble.
I have no interest in the first fight. I'd kinda like to see the latter.

Toney should be offered $5,000 to show, $250,000 win bonus. No more paycheck hunting. If you want to prove yourself and have the money on the W side...that's how to do it.

Wouldn't be a good idea for rampage to stand and trade with Toney...

*Yawn*

Toney is looking for another payday. I'm not looking to drop more money on watching this guy get demolished... Wait, I didn't pay to watch the first destruction either. Rampage would go in talking about how he's going to stand and trade, but as soon as the fight started he's shoot a double leg, get on top and ground and pound a referee's stoppage. Would probably take about as long as Couture took.

^ correct on the way Rampage would win. Toney is looking for another easy $500,000

Yeah Toney, let's go challenge another great wrestler so we can see you get pulled down by your pinky toe again.

I would only hope that Page would step up the embarrassment this time around and pull out a pride slam followed by some nasty GnP similar to those bombs Henderson threw in Babalu's face.

Painful to see this unfolding, Rampage has always been 205, he just made a big wave at 205, Toney won't make 205 healthily, Rampage is getting dragged into it, it'd be only too easy for him to sign for this fight at HW and not worry about putting on a few pounds.

And if Rampage is dumb enough to react to Toney's jibes, I hope he's not also dumb enough to make a boxing match out of it, when he is a great wrestler and could destroy Toney in 10 seconds with a TD to GNP.

BUT I thought the way he fought against Machida was very clever, controlled and well thought out, so much so that he could have afforded to be more aggressive and take more chances early on. He can have a good stab at the title now he's focused and in shape, dangerous as ever.

James Toney is retarded with his Boxing/MMA complex, can't believe he hasn't shut up after the Couture fight, and I think Dana will lose all credibility if he does this fight.
