UFC HW division ???
Just a thought, there doesn’t seem to be much heavyweight action going on at the minute, so, if cain does away with jds, who is there for him to fight?? Besides carwin or a rematch (unlikely) with brock, no one seems a legitimate threat… the ufc are idiots if you ask me, they shouldn’t have dropped werdum, they should have dropped Gonzaga (if just for extra fighters alone) and in my honest opinion, they should go after someone like tim silvia… I KNOW hes a big slow average fighter, but hes an extra name to shot in the mix… I think the heavyweight division is now looking a little thin…. They definitely need to be going afternew talent imo
How do you see the landscape forming interms of contenders in the very near future??

I agree on Werdum and Sylvia. Both make interesting style challenges to Cain ... the BJJ wiz with good standup (better than Nog) that Cain would be at great risk taking down, and the much rangier striker with good TDD in Sylvia. Neither style is something he has faced before at a top level.
ATM yeah, if he takes out JDS and Carwin he's effectively cleaned out the division in just two defences. Thin division, but the HW div has always been that way, I mean even two legit challenges used to be a rare thing for the HW king.

*little laugh* Please.
He has already disposed of Brock and Mir will never win another contender fight again.
Fact is the UFC HW division is not stacked, it never was. But that's their own fault. They're to fast when it comes to cutting guys. Arvloski, Werdum, Gonzaga and Sylvia were all top 10 when they were let go. That's no way to build a good heavyweight division. Sure, not all of them were cut...

Once cain faces Junior that pretty much defines the UFC HW division. After that it is really weak. The winner of that cain vs Junior will be champ, the loser will just destroy everyone until he gets another shot. I think the ufc will put something crazy like machida, rampage to HW or maybe evans and jones.

UFC needs to declare war on the SF HW division. Next time one of their top 5's (Overeem, Fedor (unlikely), Antonio Silva, Werdum, and Barnett) contract runs out just outright double SF's offer. the HW division is the most important division in MMA, and after Cain v. JDS the UFC could be struggling to make relevant matchups that haven't already been done before.

I doubt Mir will have to fight a contenders match to get his shot, they only have a handful of options.

ala~ big nog , cro-cop, to a lesser degree frank mir ... heh and what if.. brock decides to hang it up
